Mossy Oak is honored to congratulate professional angler and guide Johnnie Candle on his induction into the North Dakota (ND) Fishing Hall of Fame. Candle, a valuable member of the Mossy Oak Fishing Team, will be officially inducted as part of the ND Fishing Hall of Fame’s 2018 July ceremony.

Candle’s career as a professional angler bridges more than 23 years. Over the years he has enjoyed numerous highlights including his 2010 win of the MWC World Walleye Championship. Additionally, Candle is a two-time recipient of Cabela’s NTC All-American award, among others. He also competes at high levels on the USFA, NAWA, PWT, MWC, and NWT tournament trails.

There is far more to Candle’s life as an angler than his competition experience and many awards. He has been a guide for decades, working hard to promote the sport throughout five different states. His guide service, Devil’s Lake Guide Service, offers a variety of fishing options including Walleye School. Devil’s Lake is well known for its cold and warm water fisheries and Candle’s skill as an experienced angler and guide has allowed him to dominate all aspects of the area for some time. Whether after Brown Trout, Walleye, or Northern Pike, he excels.

Mossy Oak is proud to have been a part of Candle’s life for decades, something he remembers fondly. “My first encounter with Mossy Oak was during an outdoor media event over 20 years ago,” Candle said. “They enjoy the outdoors and understand what it means to make it a better place for everyone.  I proudly wear their fishing pattern, Elements Agua, as partnering with them has given me a great opportunity to work with an incredible company. It also allows hardcore anglers the opportunity to be part of all that Mossy Oak stands for.”

Ben Maki, Mossy Oak’s Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, is duly impressed by the ND Fishing Hall of Fame inductee’s career. “He’s a committed and enthusiastic outdoorsman whose passion aligns with ours to increase participation in outdoor pursuits,” Maki stated.

Johnnie Candle is the epitome of Mossy Oak’s commitment to the spirit and promotion of the outdoors. He comes from a line of dedicated anglers – his grandfather was a dedicated angler and his father a boat captain – and he takes the sport seriously. For Candle, fishing isn’t a hobby it’s a way of life. Mossy Oak is confident Candle is an integral part of the Mossy Oak Fishing Team and commends him on this milestone in his angling career.
