2025 Oaktoberfest Chili Cookoff Rules

RULES:

  • Cook teams must prepare at least 50 small plate servings of chosen dish.  

  • NO FOOD CAN BE SOLD.

  • Teams can begin setting up and cooking between 8 AM and 11am on October 18.

  • Food and Ingredient prep can be done off site.

  • Each team will be provided with a station that includes 2 tables, all serving dishes for judge submissions, and the sample cups for the public.

  • Power may be available as requested.  No water is available.

  • All clean up must be done immediately after the event.

  • For consistency, we will provide serving plates and/or cups.

  • Creativity in ingredients, style, and flavor is encouraged. 

  • Please be mindful of common allergens like peanuts, shellfish, or eggs and provide information on said ingredients if used.

  • Please ensure all meats are cooked to a safe and adequate temperature

JUDGING INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Food must be prepared by 11:00am for judging; no patrons can sample dishes until after judging begins

  • A panel of up to 4 judges will do a blind taste on each dish, scoring on a 1-5 scale with the total score tallied

  • Committee members will bring samples of the dishes to reserved judging tables

  • Winners will be announced at 12PM. 

REGISTRATION

Cook team sign-up is available at the Mossy Oak Store in West Point, MS with a $20 cash entry fee. The number of teams is limited- first come first served.

PRIZES

Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners.
