I believe one of the biggest differences between hunting whitetail and blacktail deer is that the whitetails seem to be more leery, which isn’t surprising. Whitetails have been hunted much harder by more people and for much longer than blacktails. Most whitetails by the time they are 3-years old have had several hunter encounters, and they are tuned-up on how to avoid the hunter danger.

When the bucks stood-up, they didn’t offer any shots. We watched them walk and then trot away, going from 10 to 200 yards without giving Julie a shot. Finally the bucks stopped at some cedar trees. Two of the three bucks bedded-down in the shade where we could watch them. The biggest buck remained standing in the sun.

Big Green Targets – Get Ready for Deer Season

What I have observed from Big Green Targets is they are continually pushing the limits on how their targets are manufactured to ensure they are high performance targets. This is important to be able keep up with today’s super fast bows and carbon arrows. I also really like the fact that they update the faces so we have new aiming points to improve our shooting skills.
