Kevin VanDam recently joined Mossy Oak as the fishing team leader, and this past weekend, he won his 24th B.A.S.S. tournament.

The Huk Bassmaster Elite at St. Lawrence River presented by Go RVing took place July 20-23 in Waddington, NY. VanDam’s 4-day total of 90 pounds, 3 ounces is one of the highest ever recorded by an Elite Series angler weighing in only smallmouth bass.

“I fished my very first B.A.S.S. tournament here on the St. Lawrence River in 1987,” said VanDam. “It is hard to win one of these blue trophies, and it’s something I never, ever take for granted. This one means as much as any tournament I’ve ever won.”

The event was VanDam’s 300th tournament with B.A.S.S., and the cash prizes pushed his career earning with B.A.S.S. to more than $6.2 million. VanDam is now in third place in the Angler of the Year standings.

“It’s an honor to have Kevin VanDam on the Mossy Oak team,” said Ben Maki, Chief Marketing Officer for Mossy Oak. “We’re proud of his accomplishment, winning his 24th B.A.S.S. tournament. He’s a phenomenal angler and ambassador for the outdoors.”

Food Plot Preparation: Plan Ahead for Success
Late July and August can be a very busy month for wildlife management chores. Dove season is right around the corner as well as archery season for deer. Formulating a plan this time of year on what, when, and where you are going to plant cool season plots can save time and frustration. Waiting until the very last minute and scrambling to find seed, equipment or fertilizer can be a major headache.
