| Since this spring i have found 3 deer that have been taken by coyotes....my buddy actually seeing one of the deer being chased and taken down by 2 at one time. With this being said i am going on a coyote hunting "Mission" after the season ends and was wondering about a few things. Where is the best place to set up for coyotes to call? Field, brush, open woods? And what calls do they most likely repsond to? Lastly, is it better to hunt them at night? or in the morning/evenvin? Any help on this would be great!

Leave a trace of blood trail heading towards your best stand or shooting spot. Bait it with only stuff a coyote would eat.
Get them used to easy food and BOOOMMMMMM!
I really don't know but i dropped two the first time I went deer hunting, which was a month ago.

The trick to hunting anything is location, location, location!
The second thing is that you have to be there all the time.
Coyotes do not follow a set schedule like people, they do not wear a watch and they don't care how cold or warm it is outside. They live there.
If you call in the early evening and you get a answer, then you are probably in a good spot.
I would suggest that you walk at least a quarter of a mile away from your vehicle before you even attempt to hunt them. I would just put a ribbon in the branch of a tree after you call the first time and not return for a week.
Then find a place with a open spot on a hill and get one of them stuffed rabbit's, it doesn't matter if it is 3 times as big as a real rabbit or even if it is pink.
Then buy yourself a electronic game caller and turn it on and let it do it's thing.
Make sure that you get one with a speaker that it detachable and put the speaker 40 yards away from your location. If not, you might get jumped by a coyote looking for a free meal.
When the coyote comes in - shoot it. You might have to sit there 800 times and 8 hours before you actually get one. It is not easy like hunting turkeys.
If you find one coyote, chances are there is 10 others in the area.
If you can find a den of coyote's, you might have some good hunting.
When coyote's depletes all of the food sources, they just move on to the next place, down the road and you won't see them or anything else for many years to come.

Great advice!
If you can afford it, get a Foxpro electronic caller. I have hunted with friends in Texas and it is phenominal! They have a wireless remote so you can set the call out and then back off almost as far as you want to operate.
Dying rabbit and coyote pup in distress is two reallt great call sounds.
Coyotes love deer meat, as you have found out.
If you plan on hunting them regularly (every year) , buy an old used freezer, save and freeze the deer guts, scrap meat etc. Throw it out in the area you plan to hunt the day before.
Always set up so the coyote will cross some open spot down wind of the call or bait. they will always circle downwind, every time.
DO NOT MISS your shot..... if you do, you educated the whole pack to the call and ambush.
Pick up a couple of Byron Souths videos to get some truly great information........ I have personally hunted with him and he knows his stuff........ here is a link to his website.... www.byronsouth.com
