I'm tossing around the idea of an archery pronghorn trip and am looking for any info I can get. I think I'd like to hunt from a blind over a water hole, but if I could hit the rut and hunt from behind a decoy, that would be exciting.

Does anyone know when the pronghorn rut is? I've read that pronghorn hunts are relatively inexpensive, but does anyone know a ballpark figure of what it might cost? I'm open for about anywhere.....South Dakota, Wyoming, Colorado, etc.

Thanks!

The rut depends on the area you will be hunting. I have found that around the middle of September is usually a pretty good time to be out there with a decoy. Early season I will set up blinds at water holes if it is a dry year, if not I will do spot and stalk hunting mostly. Hard to use the water hole approach if there it a lot of water and it is a wet year!

The area I have hunted several times in Wyoming it seems to hit around October 1st some years. The unit I draw for I have seen them chasing like crazy on the OCT 1 opener or just the opposite. I have tried bow hunting them and taken shots but the 90mph winds do bad things to an arrow I have never hunted a waterhole. The ranch I hunt does not have any. It can be pretty cheap if you go public land. I can drive from TN, get hotel, processing, gas, food, and my 1 buck and 2 doe tags and ranch fee for about $1100.

They got me drawing but I missed

SO I got out the Ruger long range bow
