| it has been a weird turkey season so far and monday was the weirdest . around 6 am i was working in a tom from about 100 yards and he was coming in fast in front of me about 10 yards away from me was a wood pile . looking through my nocs i could see a beard hanging probably about a 8-10 incher he came in and ran behind the wood pile before i could get a shot so i sat a waited till he came out i could hear him gobbling and as soon a he stuck out his head he looked at me and started to putt so i took the shot and he went down. as i got to the bird i saw a the long beard running back into the field and realized that i had shot a jake , that darn tom used a decoy on me and it worked. but at least i got a bird. the jake was 16 pounds 5 inch beard and 1/2 inch spurs.

congrats on the bird. this season has been tuff for birds. they gobble there heads off then are gone. i have been out with the bow but no success so congrats to you
