Rossi has a nice line up of youth rifles. They have nice combos like a 20 gauge and a 243 just switch barrels.

7mm-08 and 243 are good calibers for youth.

Mr. Armstrong has a great suggestion in the Rossi. It's a great single shot and will teach your young hunter the art of patience in order to get the all important accurate shot off.

Another great option is the Remington 870 in their "Youth Model", it's a 20 ga. lighter version of the old stanby with all the same features. Just make sure you buy the combo package so you get the rifled slug barrel for deer hunting and the remchoke barrel for bird hunting.
