turkeyboy113 (2/22/2009) I have 3 different arrow sets: Easton ST Axis, Carbon Express Maxima Huner 350 and Gold Tip Pro Hunter 5575. I like Easton ST Axis because I like the compromise of giving up a few FPS on speed and get devastating penetration results. Of course, they're accurate.
NYT, the Carbon Express KV Armaid is one nice set of arrows. One drawback: almost 100 bucks for 1/2 dozen. I paid 130 bucks for a dozen on Carbon Express Maxima Hunter 350. They're as good as KV Armaid. They shoot like how you want them to be shot at: it's like having a gun in your hand and put bullets where they're at. Thought I would share that with you from experience, NYT.
I need something real tough to bounce off the rocks when I miss.

I was thinking of upgrading my arrow, NYT. Beman ICS Hunter Elite. Toughest arrows out there. Beman's owned by Easton. Even though I got a couple of Easton ST Axis bounced off the trees after taking my shots at'em bucks. Didn't have any problems at all. Still shoot straight. Only problem that I have with Easton ST Axis is the HIT inserts are way inside the arrows. If you shoot'em and hit it on the tree, it'll split up real bad. However, with deflections, no problems.
Just talked it over with a buddy of mine at Schaffer Archery Performance at Burnsville, MN with the concerns of hitting impact of arrows on the tree if that happens again. He highly recommends Beman ICS Hunter Elite, looking at $140-160 for a dozen because he have'em and says they're the TOUGHEST arrows around. HMM....am having reservations about that, NYT, on that price. *chuckles* With the economy these days...we all gotta take a chance.

NTYMADATER (2/22/2009) Blazers usually don't shoot very well through a WB. That's one fast bow with one pin out to 30.
I've heard both sides from different people concerning the WB and blazers'. You'd think with less fletch contact they'd be better, but it does'nt seem to be that way always.
I would'nt say my bow is smokin fast. I ran a few thru the chrono after a new string this year right around 290, it's a Diamond Rapture #70 31" draw. I'll loose maybe an 1" from 25-30yrds which is still a tight group for my one pin hunting setup.

290 is pretty fast. My bow only shoots about 275 with my hunting arrows. The Generals not known for speed. Thinking about getting a new X-force.
I think the problem with Blazers and WB has to do with the height of the Blazers combined with how stiff they are. Blazers are good vanes but I don't know anyone that can get good groups with Blazers shooting through a WB. I also have problems getting Blazers to stick and prefer the Quickspins but they would look real funny coming out of a WB. They would probably work with the new Octane Hostage Pro rest.

| I actually shoot a WB and I can hold a pretty good group with the 2 inch blazers. Dont know though if it is because I have the wb set up for aluminum arrows. But all I know is that it will shoot either 4 or 2 inch blazers the exacte same. Let me find the pic and Ill put it on here and show ya.

NYT, you're right that Bowtech Generals are not known for speed. I had 2007 and 2008 Bowtech Commander. They aren't known for speed either. What Generals and Commanders are well-known for: forgiveness and accuracy. I've been getting 265 FPS on 400 grains arrow on 2007 Commander on 65 lbs draw while I get 280 FPS on 370 grains arrow on 2008 Commander on 65 lbs draw. What we the bowhunters sacrifice: the weight of those bows while bowhunting. I decided to trade up for Hoyt Alpha Max 35 and Hoyt Katera XL. I am still waiting for the order to arrive anytime soon. Once I find out the chorno speed, I'll follow up with you guys.
As for arrow rests, we all have different preferences. I've shot WB, drop away, and fall away rest. I liked them all. They all shot tight groups 20, 30 and 40 yards respectively. When it comes down to noise factors, we all have to figure out how to quiet them down. That's what makes us bowhunters interesting. Thumbs up!

| I think a nice hardwood footed cedar arrow with 5" sheild cut feathers and a 135 gr Zwickey Delta two blade broadhead. total weight 560 gr. It's a Bear killer, works on Caribou too.

I'll never own one again. The past 2 WB's I've had (sure shot's), have not lasted long at all and tear my 2" blazers up. i guess it's ok for the first 50 arrows, but seems like the whiskers start crossing each other instead of staying straight, causing noise and throws the arrow off. going back to drop away, that trophy taker top load or whatever seems to be doing good...
As far as arrows, i shoot Gold Tip 5575 XT Hunters, and they shoot great
