I am trying to get back into Wildlife/Landscape Photography after not having been very active with it for a while now.
I've got a Canon EOS (film, not digital) that I am going to be using, atleast for a while yet. Although, I hope to move to digital as well sometime in the not to distant future.
Anyways, I am looking for a new (on a budget - atleast for now) lens.
I am thinking about either:
Sigma Zoom Telephoto 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG Macro Autofocus Lens for Canon EOS
or
Canon Zoom Telephoto EF 100-300mm f/4.5-5.6 USM Autofocus Lens
And then maybe coupling it with a multiplier.
Just wondering if anybody has used/does use either of these, and has any thoughts/recommendations/suggestions. I have read reviews on various sites, but would like some feedback from you guys as well.
Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Fall's a comin' ...... and can't get here soon enough.

I hear decent thngs about both of those lenses. However, the Canon is a bit better when it comes to the AF. Can yo use IS with the SLRs? IS is REAL helpful when you get that glass fully rolled out.
However, if this is a temporary thing until you get a new DSLR then maybe the less expensive Sigma is the way to go...then you can save up for the Canon 300mm L lens! Now THAT is the rig to run!
ROFL!!!!!!!!

I have a Cannon EF 300mm lense. I don't know a whole lot about photography but it works fine for me. What I like is I can use it on my old 35mm EOS Rebel and the EOS 20D with no issues.

| You will not have autofocus with a teleconverter and you will also lose a stop of light. I would look for a used faster lens or check out the 75-300 IS lens for starters. Brian
