Anyone make their own treestand saftey lines? A buddy did his own last year with the prussic knot and they work well. The pre-made jobbers online seem to be high rent.

What say you?

Oh,and if you don't use a harness when in the tree...shame on you!

I have never made my own but I do use the one that came with the Summit I bought last year. I never get in a stand anymore without a safety harness on.

I haven't needed to yet....have the rope for my Seat of the Pants....but have made ropes with prussic knots in the past when I climbed trees as part of my job. Easy enough to make.

I made some just this past season. Use top quality rope, not the cheap stuff. I used a 5/8 poly nylon blend, for the main line, and the prussic knot is from same 3/8 of the same kind of material. I used hog rings on all of my knots. That way they could not back out if they wanted to.

We have 10 0r 12 homemade "LifeLines" wiuth the prussic know that I've made up. We have one on every stand weather it is is a hang on or a ladder. It's nice to be hooked up from the moment you leave the ground.
