That's right, I said R-1000

Yessir, I got my R-1000 pin from the Rinehart 100 shoot in Wabash, Indiana this past Sunday!

Me, my wife, Steve (indyhunter), and our friend Glen traveled north (2 hrs) on Friday evening. We got checked into a motel and started drinking and fellowship'n. Got up Sat morning around 8am, got some breakfast, and headed to the Saturday shoot. We got there around 10am, and started the North American side of the course (50 targets). Weather was PERFECT! Sunny and 80 degrees with a slight breeze.

We took TONS of pictures, but here are a few of my fav's........

Glen Fohr, Steve Addleman, and BowBo

Wooly Bear.......... never seen a hairy target before!

Alien critter dude....

The 100 pointer "Dream Buck" with a 43" spread had ALL of us hunters shaken up bad....... Nothin' but 8's!

And this is my score card for the first 50 targets on the North American range....
When I turned in my card at 3pm on Sat, I was ranked in 6th place out of 130 shooters that had turned in their score cards for the day.

Saturday afternoon/evening, we spent by the pool enjoying the air, and a few............. no, lots of beverages! It was a fairly late night indeed. But we sure had some great laughs that evening.

Anyhoo, up at 8am again on Sunday. Ate breakfast in the motel restaurant (excellent food there by the way).... and headed over to start the African Safari range.

Scheryl shootin' Tigger...

Ring up another 12....

Steve bearing down on the rhino...

Glen trying to kill the MONSTER ALIEN!

Checking scores....

Hey look, Scheryl found a friend...

The very last target of our shoot, TALL giraffe!

I was awful hard on myself starting about half way through the day, wanting so badly to break the 500 mark again, for both courses. I started getting frustrated a little, and to say the least, it didn't help at all! Wound up with 1025 total points for the two days....... and then got the "hunter class handicap" and bumped me up to 1075 for the tourney. When we left around 3:30.............. I was at like 68th place, out of over 300 shooters..... at the time. I know there were still a LOT of great shooters out on the course though. And I'm sure I just kept getting bumped further on down the list! LOL

Here's my African Safari score card...

The course moved along fairly well every where except when they would have "doubles" set up. Where they would have 2 different targets at the same location..... this caused pretty major back-ups. Once you got beyond those, it was back to normal again. There was probably around 12-14 set up like that out of the 100.

Yeah Virg, I got my R-1000 pin........... they gave it to me on the spot.
