The black one is a natural pointer, the big one is just a lawn ornament lol

I have 2 English Springer Spaniels and 1 Boykin, all males.
I run upland and waterfowl with all of them, but the Boykin is exceptional on the ducks!

Thanks...sorry about that. That reply was posted in error, it was actually from a PM I sent someone else.
Not sure how it wound up here...

| i have always ran lewellins . here in ky i dont think theres any better dog for grouse quail woodcock snipe doves and the occasionaly pheasant. ive even hunted ducks (jump hunts).if you have ever owned or been around one you can see the intenised in their eyes to adapt to the situation you have gave them.the more they are apart of your family the better they are.now im not taking any thing away fromany other breed ive hunted with them all and there bird finding machines.but a good example is my cousin and i where hunting grouse 4 yrs ago and we knew the grouse where high on the hill but holley keep pulling us down the hill finally we gave in and she took us to a wet bottom land we limited in woodcock.she made a bad day grouse hunting into a great day.ive always said lewellins are not birddogs there meat dogs.p.s. my wife likes it that annie (our present dog) sets all the flys in the house and holds them for my wife to kill with the fly swatter.

I grew up with shorthairs they are great dogs. When I was a boy my first dog was a field trial drop out that I used to hunt pheasants in the fields near my house. She was really good to my 12 year old mind. I loved that little dog.
Bondhu I knew by your name what you liked.lol
My females dam was out of the bondhu lines. The sire was registered english setter though so by rule she is registered english as well.
I use my setters on ducks quite a bit. Where I hunt the water is only a foot deep you don't need a real strong swimmer so they work fine. I do have to watch the cold temps they can take more than some might think but they do not have the weather proofing of a lab or chessy.
Post up some pics. I want to see those lews and shorthairs.
