IMO there is no reason to add weight for the sake of adding weight.
At 40# the spine range of the appropriate arrow allows the same level flight as the 50# bow.
As far as hunting...a 7/8 low profile head such as the stinger will suffice as well as any in reference to penetration.
Years back I had my son set up at 40# with a 100 series CX and 100gr. 2blade stinger and he tipped more big game in one year than some people here have in years. 
Point being that a lighter bow is easier to shoot and draw so why the need?.
It's obviously not a macho thing
