does any one have a good solid way of breaking beagles,or any hound, from running
deer.they will run the hell out of rabbits but just cant stop them from running deer if they come across one.........have tried breaking scents...and several head thumpings.thinking of trying an
e-collar....any tips would be great.

Tie deer tarsal glands to a electric fence.Everytime they sniff it they get zapped. They learn pretty quick.

Whipping on a dog should never be used as a training tool..though alot of folks do it and say it`s A ok.

Get an E-collar.Take the select dog...or dogs if your getting more than 1 e-collar.Go looking for deer.As soon as you find them...turn the dog/s loose and get to zapping.

If you still can`t get the dog or dogs broke...look for someone in a state where deer running with dogs is legal and make the sale!

hey thanks for the input...i have a 2 year old male that just doesnt seem
to get the point of NO DEER! my others caught on quik.he was an older dog when
i got him..i prefer puppies.so could this make it harder to break him or is he still young enough to learn.

Beagles don't take too well to being beat on from my experience...

I recommend the e-collar too...short of leaving it in the woods for a night or two after it runs off..

ok e collar it is....iwas thinking of getting the INNOTEK ADV 1000.
looks simple to use, 1000 yard range, and 2 dog system.you can usally
tell well within a 1000yards if they are running a deer or not,and i dont need
bells and whistles

E-collar

I like TriTronics. They are more expensive, but they are the Cadillac as far as I am concerned. They also have great customer service.

No, I don't work for them. I paid hard earned cash for mine.

I'm not into "beating dogs" but the words "get to zapping" reminds me of the worlds best trainers when they took a whole litter of pups out at one time. The FIRST one that turned on deer GOT SHOT DEAD . . . the others got the message quick!

What is the difference between beating a dog and electrically frying a dogs neck? OH, you don't see the image of a man beating his "pet"!

Techno, no one ever said the word "whipping".
