My 2 favorite deer guns are my Savage 30.06 with Simmons 3x9 scope for anything over 100 yrds, and for thicker area's or just open sites, i love my Winchester 30-30. It's dead accurate especially with the new hornady rounds for it. Those are my 2 favorite deer rifles/calibers to use

I started hunting with my dad's 30/30 Winchester 94, so that will always have a place in my book. But my favorite would be my Savage 111 in .270 win. w/ a Bushnell 3-9, shooting 150 gr. Super X.
Also can't go wrong with my grandpa's hand me down 30-06 BAR.

Depending on where I am hunting(open fields or heavy brush) I use one or the other for my deer hunting.
If I'm setup on the open fields I will use my Remington 721 in 270 winchester using 150 grain handloads.
If I am in the heavy brush or driving, stillhunting or spot and stalk, I will use my Winchester 88 in 308 Winchester using 180 grain handloads. This one has taken more deer for me than the first one

I don't rifle hunt much now. We only get 1 deer tag in Maine and I have been bowhunting.
But, last deer was a small buck taken with my Uncles (handed down) Remington 742.
Took a Moose with my Dads 7MMMag a couple decades ago. Next up will be me Grandfathers (handed down) Ted Williams Model 100 (.30-.30) with open sights.
I've never actually shot a deer with a rifle I've bought new. Depending on how some things work out, I'll probably end up someday with a Model 700 in 7MM-Mag or 7MM-.08 bought myself.
