The will have scoring rings in one of two configurations - IBO(hits are scored 11, 10, 8, 5) or ASA(hits are scored 14, 12, 10, 8, 5).

Depending on the club, most courses are setup in two halves of 15 each or one continuous loop of 30 targets. The clubs will devide you up into classes depending on your equipment you are using(fixed pin, 12 inch or less stabilizer = hunter class, movable sight and/or stabilizer larger than 12 inches = Comp/Challenger class)

Maximum distances for each class will vary from club to club, but most clubs adhere to the IBO maximums of 35 yds fro hunter class, 50 yds for comp/challenger class.

Some clubs will have one or two novelty shoots running at the shoots as well. These are usually long distance targets(70 yds or more) or they will set a target at 50 yds and have a dot in the x-ring and closest to the dot or actually hitting the dot wins.

Most clubs charge from $8 to $10 as an entry fee and that will also vary sometimes by class as well. Most clubs also allow kids under 8 or 9 to shoot free as well.

good luck and have fun

RE: 3D shoot questions!

I started shooting 3D this year and the fartest we shot was a buffalo at 70 yards. I am from MT and usually the shots are from 10-50, with a few exceptions. 3d is LOTS of fun and a great way to get ready for hunting season.

3D shoot questions!

Well, there is going to be a small 3D shoot near my hometown and I was wondering just what to expect if I were to sign up. There is a very small entry fee, and I think it would be a fun experience. I am not used to shooting out to 80 yards or anything, so can anyone tell me exactly what to expect if I were to sign up for this? Thanks for any help
