Come on out to the Indiana County Bow & Gun Club's monthly 3D shoot.

We have 30 targets located throughout the club property, max distance to the target is approx 50 yds.

It costs $12 for competition shooters, $8 for the for the fun of it shooters, $2 for kids 9-13, kids under 9 shoot free.

Also in honor of mothers day, women shoot free.

Some of you know I run our club 3-D shoots.

Well this year we are going from $8 to $ 10. Everybody has been at 10 for the past few years except us.

My questions are ......

I am also thinking about going to 30 targets instead of 40. We have a few stations that are doubled up and a lot of guys complain and says that it slows the course down.

How many targets do you guys shoot at?
How much are the clubs charging for the shoots?
Do you think that raising the price and dropping the targets is to drastic in one year?

Most clubs around us only have 30 stations.

Let me know what you think.

Well we made it through the rain! Some liked it and others not so much...

We ended yup splitting into 2 groups, 3 and 3 and had a pretty good day. I ended up with a 282 in the hunter class. Shawn and Greg had great outings!

What a weekend...........

Day 1- Started out well. Figured i would have a case of Tournament nerves but I was solid as a rock. First 6 targets I was 6 up and was shooting well. We made the turn after the first ten targets and all was well starting into the next 10. Look up ahead and groups are just backed up. They were letting the groups free pull and there was a youth group that had gotten 4 targets behind their nearest team in front of them. It started becoming 20 to 30 minutes between shots and that was when I started dropping some points..............Shot a 190 the first day so I was 10 down.

Day 2- Shot at 8 am. It was cold, humid, and windy. Seemed like I just couldn't get into the groove. By the time I found it we had 3 targets left to go and I was 4 down. Turned in and there was my gimme 14 target. A javelina at dead on 20 yard. Got my 14 came back to even and on the next target shot an 8......... Last target I almost went for the 14 but I decided to play it safe and shoot the 12 cause i would drop alot of points if I didn't hit it. Missed the 12 by 1/4 inch and ended up 2 down on the day.........

Shot a 388 on 2 days and finished 35th in hunter class out of at least 120 people. All in all I had an awesome time and I am already making plansfor next year.

Congrats to Lyle Plum for taking 1st in Hunter Class with a 428 with 16X's.............Good to see them Okies go down to TX and do so well. Also a big congrats to Dan Chaffin(AKA Daniel Boone) for taking 7th in Senior class. Alot of other okies did very well.

Has anyone here ever shot pop up targets.?

Im headed to a Bass Pro shoot friday and saturday with pop up targets.. Max yardage from with i understand is 25yds with the targets only being up for 5-6 seconds tops. It may sound easy but my shot sequence alone is longer than that.. Im curious to see how many arrows i end up wiht..

You only have to qualify in one event inorder to shoot the championship.

All these shoots are in Charlotte, NC ..

2008 Southern Archery Circuit Schedule
All Shoots Start At 8:00am & Close At 6:00pm.
All Score Cards Must Be Turned In By 6:00pm During DST time(5:00pm Non-DST).
Failure to abide by Circuit & Club Rules will result in disqualification.
Rules are posted at Club House!
Note: Due to today's insurance company requirements, anyone attending a B.O.A.C. event, participant or spectator, must sign an insurance waiver. This includes members also.

VIRTUAL HUNTING

How many of you guys have shot your bows in one of the Virtual Hunting theaters?

I did this for the first time last week......... and it was truly a blast!!

Although, we had already shot 60 spots before even walking in there, (I was about worn out going in)...... It was still sooo much fun!!

It was only $7 for a half our of virtual hunting!

Shot another 40 arrows in there..... over 100 shots in about 2hrs! It sure was a good time though.

Today was my clubs first 3D shoot of the year. The forcast didn't look good, but after some light showers, and freezing rain early, the weather held off. We had 180 shooters, so it was a pretty good day for our club. So far it seems most people really liked the course.

Adam and his brother Alex, and Ed drove down from NY to shoot with us. My wife and I and Scott, also shot, along with 2 guys that have never shot before.

Jen and I along with Jared, and Steve shot together as a group. Jen smoked us with a 258. Jared shot exceptionally well for his first shoot, and ended with a 253. I bombed with a 243, after fighting left and right issues since yesterday afternoon. Finally figured out my rest was messed up on target 27. Scotty got me straigtened out,( thanks bro) and I was back on track for the last 3 targets. A little to late to salvage anything, but at least I finished in a better state of mind. I was getting pretty down on myself, becasue I felt good shooting, but wasn't getting the results. Steve had to take off after the half way mark due to prior commitments. He shot really well, especially considering he just recently picked up a bow for the first time in 20 years. Looking forward to shooting more with both Jared and Steve.

Atterbury 3-D Shoot

For any hoosiers that might be interested, White Lick Archery is having their outdoor 3-D shoot on this coming Sunday (3/9)..... and it is behind the Atterbury Militarty Reservation's archery range.

Check-in is anytime between 8am - 1pm. Cost is $10 for adults, it has 40 standard targets (from aprx 15yds out to 40yds), and a couple "bonus" targets on the course as well.

I will be there closer to 8:30 myself. Indy Hunter (I talked to him on the phone) is definitely meeting us there! And I believe Gutter will be riding with me down there. Another buddy of ours, Joe, might be going..... but probably won't know till last minute.

I'm pretty sure Kris is going too.... and he talked about even doing some yotie hunting afterwards! Wish I could be in on that, but probably won't be able to, more than likely.

Everyone chime in that might go..... and we'll all hook up!!!

If I remember right, it was about a 27-28yd shot. Someone already had a solid shot in the "kill"...... so I was shooting for their nock. Something to lock in on with my pin. Well, I think I got it!

And the "receiving X-cutter", that took it from the rear......... belonged to Mr. Romer!

Decided to breed an aluminum last night...........I heard it hit and everyone went EWWWWW. I went ahhhhh crap. My best shooting arrow is now out of comission. BTW- This was at the local indoor paper 3d shoot. Thats a 2514 I bred with my 25/64 Xcutter. My Nibbs are a little fatter than the arrow so it was like putting a 2613 in a 2514.

Sunday after our pig hunt we ( Me,Headhunter and a couple other buds )headed north of charlotte to meet up with Some buddies from Big Oak Archery for a round of Foam Deers..

They had a AWESOME turn out and just as awesome of a set up.. I have to give it to them, they had it going on.. Great set up, coarse, plenty to eat and all kinds of nice ppl.. GOOD JOB guys.. We really enjoyed our selves and will be back.

Fellas again, Great job this weekend.. All your hard work around the course was obvious.. It was the best set up ive seen in awhile..

D-Ray scored the highest out of all of us by 9 pionts.. ( Great shooting bud ) I did get lucky and got first in my class though.

Cant wait to do it again.. Wish we could have gotten a pic of everyone of the members from our site that were there..

after having my new bow for less than a week, i won my 300 shoot last night with a 287/300 with 27 x's!!!! im loving that thing. the league is a hunter bow only league, no sights, long stabilzers, etc. pretty happy about it!! the best i ever did with my martin before was 3rd. i have 2 3-d shoots to hit this weekend, cant wait.

well i found out today from my doctor i have a torn labrum from a fall i had at work in december so i wont be able to start shooting my bow till the end of may at the earliest.the worst thing is no turkey hunting and no 3d .but i get to be the camara man for the forum members that i shoot with.that will be fun.

Kyle and Gary.........Gary can smoke the X's......Many years of shooting spots.

Justin..............For his age the best shooter I have ever seen.

Justin's form and consistancy is great. You don't see many 11 or 12 year olds shooting a backtension, scope, long stabilizer, and doing it well. He can smoke some X's. Gary took first and Justin took 2nd. They make a ton of shoots including traveling out of state.
