New Trail Cam Security Box

The Bear box i got for the wildview 2 did not secure the external Battery so we wasnt useing the battery.(witch we did not like)

I had a electric box just sitting around, so i transformed it into a security box that will hold the cam and the external battery.

we will put the cheapo cam in the bear box, it dont use a external battery.

I took the door off and welded a bracket to hold the cam up and another to hold the cam on and cut out the hole for the flash,sensor,camera, and the display.

Then i let the boy paint the inside black and i painted the out side John Deer Green lol thats all i had at the time.

Then i put the cam and battery in to make sure it all fits good.

I decided i didnt like the green, So i camoed it in MO Background. all that is left to do is put the laminate i got ordered for it to protect the camo from fadeing out.

For some reason I can put a brand new battery in this camera come back in two days and it says low battery. Any one else have this problem?

solar power conversion?

anybody out there ever try a conversion from rechargeable 12 volts to solar? i saw moultrie has a solar 12 volt is why i'm asking ,seems like you could get one and if the jack doesn't fit you could go to radio shack and and get a plug that would. just wondering if anybody out there had tried this before and what the results were.ANYBODY out there tried pairing a wildview with a moultrie solar panel?

They have stepped it up a notch for sure! I can't wait to get my paws on some!

I have always been a fan of their design, just never pulled the trigger...

7 mp, IR or Flash, HUGE built in viewing screen.....and they are wrapped in Mossy Oak Treestand camo!

BUT....it takes 4 D cell and 3 C cell batteries! WOW!

I'm a little amazed here. That tractor tripped this camera from the road. That's got to be 80 yards or so away. Cars would trip it also.

bought the two pack of wildview xtreme at basspro today,was wondering if ya'll good give me some tips on setting it up,the web site says it supports up to a 512 mb card,i run vista os and can't find anything about compatibility for it,was wondering if i should just run it with good card? and transfer pics to another camera or what? or revert computer back to xp. like i said i'm totally new to this and any help would be appreciated.thanks in advance for your help.

Well I was in the market for some new bino's and since IBO rules state 8 power I made a little investment...

I was after some new ones from Busnell but they were on back order FOREVER so I picked up these instead. The price was right and I'll test them out at 3-D tonight!

Camera problems reading a card

Has anyone had any problems with a camera reading a card that was used in a different camera?

I set up a Wildview X3 camera and used a card from one of my other cams, a Stealthcam. I inatalled new batteries and set the time. When I left it the display showed 237 pix already on the card. A week later I check it and it still showed 237 pix and the display was flashing which I thought was strange. I turned it off and it wouldn't shut down. I ended up pulling a battery to get it to shut off. I swapped the card out and tyurned it back on only to find that now the batteries are dead. So I brought it home, put new batteries in, a blank card and checked it out here at the desk. All seems to be fine.

In the manual it says to only use a blank card. Do you think that would happen if the pictures already on the card are more pixels than the camera is capable of it gets confused? I also noticed I had a pst file on there for Outlook, I'm sure that didn't help. I just thought it was strange that it would lock up and drain the batteries like that.

Digital Binoculars

Hi, I'm looking into buying a pair of binoculars with the digital camera capabilities.. I have heard a wide range of opinions on these binoculars so I was wanting to know, If this type of binocular is good? What is the best brand of the digital binocular? Alright, so I bought 2 x 2.0GB cards to swap out and what not in my trailcam. I was able to view the pix on my Nikon digital cam but when I put the 2.0GB in my card reader that goes into the USB port, it says nothing is there. I have a 1.0GB card for my Nikon that is made by the same folks, do you all think it could be that the card reader can't handle the 2.0GB card? I can't figure it out.

I pulled it today........out about a week....new SD card...

Batteries were dead when I picked it up - but they were cheapies...

NOT ONE PICTURE.....ZIP - ZILCH - NADA - NOTHING...

It goes back......I'll trade it in for a new one...maybe even 2 of the "cheapies"

We've now got 5 cams through out the property! It's another one of those Cheapo digital Wildviews... no date/time stamp. But you just can't beat 'em for $39!!

Hopefully we'll get some "new" pics from it, meaning.... maybe some "new" deer!

Time will tell I reckon!

And not one of them had anything in them. I have the wildview 2 like bowbo's.........Have you guys ever had problems with maybe tree limbs moving and that setting the cam off or maybe grass in the wind. Only thing different in the pics is the grass and limbs.

Since it was pouring rain today, I get Drewbie home from camp and instead we went shopping! Had to get him some parade shoes, he is marhing in a band Saturday night...

So........we ventured over to Gander....

I bought a Wildview Extreme 4.0....VERY nice LITTLE camera! This thing is so small! It came in camo - that silly Realtree AP I was breaking Tom2008's stones about...eh...maybe I;ll cover it in Liquid nails and make it textured like my crappy Moultrie...

I have it set up at the office right now - we'll see what kinda pics I get! :lol:

I tell ya...I didnt buy the 45 dollar version from WalMart because it had the smaller flash...but these pics are also whiting out by the big flash on the 4.0...BUT I have it a small room......so there is alot of light bouncing back at it...

I will be putting it out tomorrow at Gramp's....

Trailcam Security Box

I made me a security box for my Bushnell trailcam quite a while back...... and Jack liked it enough that he wanted one.

So I made another one for him a while back. Just thought I would post a few pics of 'em........

Here is the one I made for my Bushnell trail cam....

Open the door, slide the cam in, close the door, attach the adjustable cable lock around the box (thru the rings) and around the tree sinched tight, turn the key to lock it, and wha-lah.

This one I made for Cap'n Jack's Moultrie Cam! All done except the final paint job. I've got it primered up and ready.

A little more difficult making this one without having the cam with me for precise customizing. Have to be careful not to block any of the components (sensor, lens, flash, etc). But I think it's going to work just fine....

It even has short spikes on the back of it to dig into the tree in order to stay put... no bumping and shifting once you have it where you want it!!

Using the rear loops on the security box (cam jail ), secure the box to the tree with either a tight bungie, or a cargo strap. This will allow the door to be opened without messing with the positioning of the security box.

Then run the Python cable through the front two loops, around in front of the door, and around the tree. Put your cam in the box, turn it on...... and then just put the cable into the Python locking device, sinch it REALLY tight, turn the locking key..... and you're set! The door is locked and secured close!

As you can see on MY security box for my Bushnell cam, I was able to have the Python cable go right thru the middle of the box door. But for Jack's Moultrie, the cable has to be much lower due to the sensor/lens/flash/display being low on the cam. But I do not believe that the door will be able to be forced open once the cable is sinched tight and locked! It is pretty dang stout!
