Well, I took the advice from a few members on Mossy Oak, and visited Cades Cove while we were on Holiday in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee! I'm really glad we decided to run out there........... it was BEAUTIFUL! And we got to see lots of wildlife too. We probably saw over 30 deer, and 7-8 turkeys.

I was able to make about a 300yd stalk, to get better pics of some deer!

There are deer in this field, you can see a couple if you look close....

And was able to get really close to a couple does....

This looked to be a decent 8 pointer, that had broken off his left side about an inch above the base...

Bahahahaha

This is one of my hunting buddies that scored on opening day of the Urban Archery.

He can't handle it! It takes him 30 minutes just to gut one, for the dry heaving that he does. It is soooooooo funny watching him!!

Who else here has a hard time gutting an animal?? Doesn't bother me, never has!

Here is Steve (Indyhunter) coppin' a feel............... off of ME!

This is Stephanie (Steve's daughter), Steve, and my wife Scheryl............ tailgating before the race.

We were sitting in the 2nd turn, looking left down the short shoot back into turn 1......

Here we are looking down the back stretch.............. with the cars reaching 230mph!!! It is VERY impressive in person, and just how fast they can hang a turn!

Here's a couple of pics I've taken recently that I thought turned out good...

This is the lake I live near and my kayak...

This is from this weekend. It's about a 40 foot cliff that drops off to the largest and deepest spring on the Suwannee River here in Florida. We got a rope to swing off it or you can just jump.... It's a lot of fun. The water is always a refreshing 72 degrees being a natural spring. It's a private "run" to the river, and the river is about a quarter mile straight ahead. This is where all our Memorial Day festivities were held...

HOW TO POST A PICTURE

We had our best weather day of 2008 today.... got above 60 today! It was great!!

Me and the wife took our street cruisers out for a good long ride today, and this evening we shot our bows for a while.

The western sky was beautiful, so I decided to snap a quick pic, before the sun got behind the horizon.............. GORGEOUS spring like day in Indiana. Even saw our first Robins of the year today!

This is how thick one area was before we cut it. Notice the standing dead-wood and fallen logs.

Another shot same area, see how thick it is? Most of this property is like this!

It's amazing what proper cutting can do. And we found more than 25 apple trees on this hill.

I took my son down to Camden Alabama mid January. I had some photos from the woods in slideshow link below. Unfortunately we did not see a thing but we had a great time. The woods pictures we were put out in an area wherethere was supposed to be a double stand but when we got out there it was a single so my son sat in the stand and I sat on the ground. Around lunch time we did some stalk hunting looking for something to shoot but I left the camera in the truck. In the evening we sat over a huge greenfield notice another shooting house on the other end. No, there was not anyone in it. The guy that maintains it likes to keep his back to the sun so he built a second shooting house. All in all it was a great day with the kid.

Folks, I have had the pleasure of several conversations and a meet and greet at a gathering at Peckerwood Lake in Arkansas with James Overstreet. At that meeting, James was but a budding photograher just snapping pics of the participants as much for posting photoshop chop jobs on a duck hunting forum as anything else.

He had been known for his story telling/writting ability by writing some stuff for Steve Bowman a local newspaper outdoor writer and now author of "The Arkansas Duck Hunter's Almanac", an autographed copy of which I received on that trip where I met Steve Bowman as well.

Steve and James both now work for ESPN Outdoors and James has turned into one hell of a photographer. If you want a good read, check out James' quest for Muy Grande. A good read and some awesome photography.

How many other folks try to faithfully take a camera with them while hunting and fishing?

I try to ALWAYS have my camera with me in the field. Never know what you might get.

Plus we use it as a tool to take quick looks at what's on our trailcam cards while in the field!

Just wondering who else might.............

Let's start getting some killer photos going up in here to share with everyone! Take those cameras with you in the field.... have some fun, save some memories!

When I only have about an hour to hunt in the morning I head to this spot just out of my back yard. It's a great place to set up on the deer heading to bed at daybreak, nice funnel. These pictures are of a small 8 point that came by last Tuesday. I didn't get a pix of the other buck but they were really hounding the does!

The same buck is in the middle, the green in the top right is my lawn.

Man it was a COLD one in the tree this evening...... winds pushing 20mph too!
The cold winds directly in my face, caused me to put my camo shades on to keep my eyes from constantly watering!

6 Bucks & 6 Does

It sure was cold again this morning! 25 degrees with a stiff wind to boot!!

But hey, when I have as much action as I did this morning.... it helps keep your mind off the blistering cold wind!

I saw 6 bucks, 6 does, and a coyote this morning. One "decent" crab clawed 8 pointer RAN 2 does right to me this morning, and he stopped at 28yds broadside......... just not as big as what I'm looking for. The yote was about 200 yds out, too far for my Muzzleloader.

Funniest thing that I did see this morning, was 2 does FOLLOWING a buck... right dead behind him. Strange I thought!

When I see bucks, I just get into position to make a shot if need be...... unless I see them in enough time to glass them. If I've got the time to determine they are not shooters, then I try to get a picture of them, if I feel I can get my camera out and do it without getting busted.

I did not get a chance to get any buck pics this morning.... but did get a couple slick head's pics! Here they are........

I had 2 small bucks come by my tree today, within 50yds. This one is a small 8 (hard to see), and the other was a 7 pointer about the same size. The 7 came by too late in the evening, and the pic was too dark to post.

Smokey Phase Jake Pics

Well, me and my daughter went out this morning to see the turkeys and you can imagine my surprise when I saw this Smokey phase jake with the group...you have to look close but you can see a small 3-4 inch beard on this boy...my daughter took her trumpet call and got some of the hens to talk back to her...it was a really neat morning and a real thrill for Addison

I had originally thought that this was a jake but it was pointed out to me on another board that this is most probably a bearded hen because(which I didn't notice right off)that the feathers on the neck go to high to be a gobbler....sorry for the confusion

I was out driving around near my house this morning and I came across this flock not to far from the house...check out the smokey phase hens in some of the pics...didn't see any longbeards but there was a few jakes...now I gotta figure out how I can get in to hunt the longbeards in this group come spring

Yeah, and I couldn't bring myself to shoot him, he's a dink. These bucks were chasing a doe around my stand. The other one is a 5 point. They must have been hounding her for some time as all three had their mouths open and panting with tounges hanging out. They entertained me for about an hour, what a great evening sit! I got him to stop at 15 yards for a picture. The 5 point was at around 25.
