I love mine. I got the model 2000 combo. (so it came with a smoothbore barrel with iron sights which I use for turkey and deer)

6 tubes and in a camo pattern. I think I got it for like $500? I dunno - it was about half the cost of a comparable Benelli and I liked the way it fit me. Kinda like my old Baretta 1201-F.

I have ZERO complaints about that gun. The first day I took it out on a pigeon shoot and it hung up and wouldn't cycle - so I field stripped it and put it back together and it was fine. Who knows what happened? Weed seed, new gun stage-fright, sympathetic pigeon lover, Turkish mojo...

It's been great ever since. Some of the cheaper light field loads will occasionally not cycle but good factory AA's, my reloads and everythign else do just fine. But - I had that with every auto I've owned. I plan to buy my son one too. He just bought a .410 Stoeger stackbarrel that I have to admit is a very cool little gun. He got it for squirrels and starlings. Loves it.

Now - I do have ONE criticism on my stoeger. It absolutely beats the tar out of me when I shoot slugs. About 4-5 shots and I start to flinch so bad it's rediculous. I even taped a washcloth to hunt with it this year. That's why I let Oz borry it - he can man-up and take it... hehehe

Me? I went back to my 870 and put a rifled barrel on it and switched to sabots. (love that too!)

I don't think you'll regret buying a stoeger - if you do - call me - I'll buy it off ya. Oh - mine was made in Turkey - but my son's .410 was Brazil. I don't know if they all switched or not.

I'm SURE that you're not buying a gun of the quality of a Benelli, Baretta or even a Remington. But what you ARE getting is a good serviceable, reliable field gun. Keep it clean, little maintenance and I think you'll be fine. But - heck - that's with any gun right? Good Luck
RE: Diamond Semi

Well, once again I will defer to RiverRat on this one as Rat has a Stoeger. He had a rough outing when he first got it but I think he really likes it now. A fella at work dug into them last week as he too is looking for a new rig and he hears good things. He said it seems they need to have several rounds run through them to break them in then all were very happy with the gun. He also said it must be lubed with silicone lube.

I do think you will get your money's worth on the gun. However, you are not getting a Benelli.

RE: Diamond Semi

I was reading about them on the Benelli forums. Kind of strange, I ran a search there without registering and nothing came up. After registering a ran another search and got hits.

I kind of got the impression it you buy a knock off that's what you'll have. Some aren't taking a liking to them very well, but then I'm sure Benelli is on a lot of minds over there (even though they're kin). That kind of scared me away. Don't want to short change myself and thinking about saving my pennies for the real thing.

OZ, you like the Stoeger?

RE: Diamond Semi

They do don't they.

RE: Diamond Semi

I had posted a junk link and had to do more digging.

I found two types 1:

<a href="http://www.diamondguns.com/cgi-bin/storenew.pl?page=/new/welcome.html&setup=1&cart_id=7518920.7868" target=_"blank" class="SmlLinks">http://www.diamondguns.com/cgi-bin/storenew.pl?page=/new/welcome.html&setup=1&cart_id=7518920.7868

Those actually look allot like Beretta's

And 2) found info that says there are some specially for D ick's by Franchi. It mentioned that they are imported by Benelli. I tried looking up additional info on the net but it's not easy to come by. I would like to know more about them.

Does anybody have one or know someone who does? I'm not sure if they are just a lower grade model than the black eagles or something different all together.
