Pick up a new Remington Express 12 gauge pump from a Sports Academy store for around $225 and you won't need to consider "moving up" unless you decide to play clay target games.

Add a rifled barrel with scope or iron sights and you have a "poor man's express rifle" for big game hunting.

When hunting with a slug gun, I want a heavy hard cast-heat treated full bore bullet that will allow me to hit the vitals of any deer or hog from any angle.

Soft lead thimble rifled slugs just don't have the penetration needed on a large boar hog when you need to take the shot offered in thick cover.

Your better off with Federal Tru-Ball slugs.

The[ Remington ] Slugger & [ Winchester ] Super X are well... crap.

I am a big WW slug fan but this Fall tried the Remington Sluggers. About the same performance on paper and on deer; maybe a bit less accurate in my rig but nothing to say change. Also tried the Federal Truballs which were less accurate in my rig (not saying they're inaccurate, just in my sluggun they are).

I was thinking about trying Remington sluggers for next season and was wondering what everyone thought about them.

I have been basically shooting Winchester 2 3/4 1oz. rifled hollow points for the past few years with average success. I was just thinking of a change up to maybe improve a little or should I just stay where I am and don't try to fix what is already working.
