I am getting into coyote hunting, and I don't own a centerfire. My hunting partner always lets me shoot one of his rifles, but if I hunt alone I'm going to be stuck using a shotgun. I know a lot of people that shoot a lot of coyotes with buckshot. Obviously I'm going to have to try out several choke/shell combos to figure out what my gun likes (Mossberg 535 thumbhole turkey slayer), but I wondered what you all used. What kind of lethal range does a good pattern of #4 buck have for 'yotes?

Mossberg 500 HELP!

Hi,

I recently bought a Mossberg 500 from Academy Sports. I bought some bird shots for it because they were out of slugs. I went last weekend and finally purchased the slugs and went home last night to swap out shells and I cant get the shells to eject! I had them in the tube only and pumped it tostart ejecting and the first shell came out ok, the second she stays in the chamber and goes back and forth when I pump it. I put my finger in there to give the shell a little wiggle to maybe break it loose but nothing. The gun has never been shot before and the shells were brand new. Can someone please tell me how to get this shell out? Is there a different way to get the shells out of the tube instead of pumping it?

slugs for bears

I have a been hunt booked for spring and the guide recommends slugs, this is my first bear hunt so need some options. Slug gun is no big deal because I have hunted deer for years and use federal cooper barnes expanders. Will these be good for a black bear?

Hope this won't happen, but if Uncle Sam ever made you pick just one to keep, what would it be? Dads old gun? A new high-tech multi-purpose semi-auto? Your best shooting skeet gun?

I'll start by saying I would probably pick my 12ga 870, and get every available barrel for it to maximize its utility.

But it sure would hurt to give up my Browning A-5 Sweet Sixteen....(Given to me by my Dad)

Does any body know of where I can fin a stock for my shot gun. Peic is broke off right at the but plate. Gun has been discontinued for a while. Local gunsmith I go to cant find anything for on it. Any one have any ideas where I can pic somthin up for it. Semi auto to by the way and doesnt matter if it is synthetic or wood stock.

Was wondering.For you guys and gals that live in states that don't allow rifle hunting what kind of slugs and guns you use?I have a h@r ultra slug topped with a burris fullfield2 with muli reticle,that I shoot remington copper solid slugs out of.Very deadly.Also I have a rifled mossberg 500 and a rifled remington 870.Usually just shoot the cheap remington sluggers out of them open sights.Next year I am goin to try the accu tip sabot from remington.

Remington Sluggers

I was thinking about trying Remington sluggers for next season and was wondering what everyone thought about them.

I have been basically shooting Winchester 2 3/4 1oz. rifled hollow points for the past few years with average success. I was just thinking of a change up to maybe improve a little or should I just stay where I am and don't try to fix what is already working.

My 7 yr old son has a 28 guage wingmaster with a full choke barrel. the stock is cut off to fit but the barrel is too long for him to handle. That has cost him a couple of turkeys this spring being he can not shoot unless it is on a rest. my question is what will change if i cut the barrel down and rechoke it? Also, it is a blued finish, can that be refinished with a matte finish like the 870's are? THANKS FOR OPINIONS!!!!

shotgun choke diferences

can some one please explain to me the meaning of all the different
shot gun chokes,...modified....improved modified....open....improved cylinder
i have a 410 with an improved modified choke and want to know if i can shoot
a slug through it...it holds a really tight pattern...too tight for rabbit hunting
will sawing a few inches off the barrel spread it out some.

I have an old Mossberg 500 pump and it doesn't eject shells very well. Is there a way to tear it down far enough to clean EVERY thing or is it just worn out??

I don't know too much about guns other then I like to go BANG!

Diamond Semi

I was looking at the D icks Sporting Goods flyer and they have a sale on a Diamond semi shotgun. It mentioned that they are imported by Benelli. I tried looking up additional info on the net but it's not easy to come by. I would like to know more about them.

Does anybody have one or know someone who does? I'm not sure if they are just a lower grade model than the black eagles or something different all together.

One of my employees son-in-law wants to sell a remington 12 GA.

he says it is a Model 58??? Ducks Unlimited with engraving and inlay.

3 inch mag, blued, and says it is in good shape and only wants $250.00 for it.

I have NEVER heard of a Model 58 Remington.......could this be a special model number for DU????

My dad and I took a drive to the capital today about an hour and a half away to look at the remodeled/expanded scheels, and the place looks awesome. All kinds of duck and deer and moose and elk mounts and the state record typical whitetail full-body mount. Part of the reason we went down there was to see what we could get for our Beretta trap gun, that we THOUGHT was going to increase in value, but has only decreased. And a Remington Sportsman 48.

Anywho, I wanted to go along to see if they had any Stoeger Uplanders in 20 gauge. Lucky, they had ONE in the back. I got to looking at it, and my dad was also looking at a camo model 10/22, and we ended up trading our two guns for the 10/22 and Stoeger. So, the stoeger is going to be my pet gun that i'll use as for as much as possible, from turkeys to ducks.

Got the Remington 58!

One of my employees asked me if I was interested in a shotgun..."always" I said.

His daughters boyfreind wanted to sell a Remington semi Auto.

I looked at it, Model 58 Sportsman, 12 gauge, 2 3/4 or 3 inch.

Gun had absolutely no wear and the bluing was perfect!

I asked how much? He said $200, I wrote him a check.

Shot some skeet with it yesterday evening, 2 rounds, and even with a full choke, I shot the best rounds ever.

Gonna have it bored and tapped for Rem Chokes so I can get an inproved or skeet choke in it.

Looks like I got me a good semi auto really cheap!

Looked it up and I think they made it from 1956 to 1964 when they came out with the 1100.

My friend who owns the skeet range said it would probably fetch around $500 to $600 as it is so pristine.

Guns are always an investment!

Working at Trap Range

I had went to our local gun clubs trap shoot for youth the past 3 mondays, and they called me up a few days ago and were wondering if I would come work for them during the state trap competition, and I would be PAID. Heck, i'de volunteer! I only get paid 3.75 an hour, but they do not take any taxes out either.
Anyway, today was the first day, and I work tomarrow and the next day. My job? Be in the clay-thrower bunker, and man the clay thrower. Which means, put a clay on the thing and it shoots it. Like I said, i'de do it for free! Plus I work with some, attractive females, my age, so that is a plus.
Definantly a good time. And from what i'm told, they have a youth shoot. Next time it comes to town, I may just have to sign up!
