I was also looking at the Nikon Omega.

What's the overall opinion on the drop compensating reticle. Sounds great???

Yea I know I need mounts for the scope...but from what I see I need mounts for the CVA, can't just buy mounts and expect them to fit...I did see that CVA had some but I don't really care for them. I guess I'm gonna head to Cabelas in CT next week and see what I can find.

CVA has their own mounts and base plate kit also...

Well, yes, if you want the scope to go on your rifle, you will need the mounts at some point... It's kind of hard to get a good zero using duct tape for a mount.

Yeah, I would go to the store, and get it all at one time and have them mount it and bore sight it for you. That would be the easiest way. That way you get the right size mounts and rings for the scope, but for the most part they are universal. I recommend Leupold rings and mounts.

A good scope will work just fine on a ML,I have a mid level Nikon on mine(buckmasters).A lot of my cousins an uncles use low end Leopolds on theirs.You just can't use low end Bushnells,Simmons.And a Tasco will not hold up at all.

I have several rifle scopes on several muzzleloaders. Never had any problems with the scope. You definately must use a high power rifle scope, muzzleloader scope or a shotgun scope to hold up to the recoil. If I were to buy another scope strictly for a muzzleloader I would look into one that is parallax free at 50 yds instead of the normal 100 to 150 yd parallax of most rifle scopes as most of my shots are under 100 yds.

I would get a muzzleloader (ML) scope. They are designed specifically to handle the different pressures of black powder and the MOA, etc. I've got a Traditions ML scope that works great. I think CVA makes their own that you can buy as a combo, you might want to check those out.

I want to mount a scope on my CVA but I don’t know what scope to put on it. Will a rifle scope work on, or does it have to be a muzzleloader scope?
