Glad your ok!!!! This is the reason I check out my arrows before shooting.It only takes a sec and it can take years for all the carbon to come out of your arm if you got that lucky.

I went with a custom maker here locally. They are "ONE STRING" strings. The guy has been making them for at least 10 years, and his strings are very highly recommended around here. So I decided to give them a try.

I shot some GT Pro Hunter 7595's today......... and I'm likin' 'em
They weigh in at 390 with 100gr tips and blazers.
That's 80-85 grains lighter than my X-Cutters.

I just might have to get me a dozen of those..... my Switchy shoots them very well!
I borrowed them from IndyHunter also. He's my archery guru pal

I found that 5575 were UNDERspined for my 70 pound Switchie - it was MUCH better off with the 7595's.

Ernie - what strings did you go with?

Good lord bowbo...........Your X cutters weigh 470. Did you put weight tubes in them. My 28" Xcutters with 90 grain Nibbs and pin nocks only weigh 330..........

You got dang lucky though. Count your blessings.

Tell steve you cant shoot them sissy arrows With a MATHEWS they are much more powerfull than a hoyt or bowtech

I put a new string and cable on my Switchy last weekend, with the help of Indyhunter and his bow press.

As most of you know, I shoot the Gold Tip X-Cutters (fat shafts) religiously. Well, Steve loaned me 4 of his GT XT Hunters (skinny shafts) to take home and shoot to see if I'll like them.

I started out shooting my fat shafts, and my bow seemed quieter than before the string change (also changed out the string suppressors)...... which is to be expected.

Then I pick up and shoot one of Steve's XT's....... my bow made a lot more noise upon release, and the bow provided more hand-shock than with my fat shaft arrows.

My arrows weigh around 470 grains, and Steve's at 364 (5575's).......... and I felt that his arrows were flexing too much coming out of my bow! As I was shooting in the yard, my wife noticed the difference in noise as well.

Well, I shot both mine, and Steve's arrows yesterday for about 8 rounds. Then today, I was on about my 4th round of shots........ I had one of the XT's knocked, released as normal, and BAM!! My bow made a LOUD noise, and as the arrow flew to the bag target, I knew something was seriously wrong with it! I immediately told my wife, "SOMETHING BAD IS WRONG WITH THAT ARROW!"

I go to pull the arrow, and can tell it is splintered before even touching it. I grab the arrow and pulled it out....... with no restriction at all. There is only 3/4 of the arrow there!! The other 1/4 of the arrow is still in the bag target. The arrow splintered/busted coming out of my bow, but still flew to the target (missing my mark by about 10" though). There are long splinters of carbon sticking out of the target, from the short piece that is inbedded into the bag.

I think I got VERY LUCKY that it didn't EXPLODE while in my bow, and causing damage to my arm and my bow!!!
