Shoot a few bows, buy the one that is the most comfortable to
you, practice often, take it to the deer woods, hunt with conservation in mind, take a doe.
They are as good eating as a buck. Once you do that, trust me, you will be HOOKED!!
From there, the next bow you buy, you will know what the right one is.

Good Luck Hunting.

RE: new to bow hunting

Welcome to Archery and to PSE.
I have a 10+ year old Nova out in the garage that has been loaned out to more new archers than I can remember. That bow will last you as long as you need it to.

RE: new to bow hunting

Welcome to Mossy Oak.

You have made a very good choice in the Nova as a starter bow, and yes the Nova has been responsible for a good number of todays archers getting started.

It is a great shooting bow, and you won't drop a ton of cash getting it setup.

Let me know if you need anything such as arrows, broadheads, sights and releases, and I will try and get you the necessary information on them

Again welcome and enjoy you adventures in archery hunting

RE: new to bow hunting

Hey all, I've been reading the forums for a few weeks and haven't posted, but this one caught my eye. My younger brother started out with a PSE nova, and has been shooting it for a few years now. For a "cheaper" bow, I would have to say its one of the best I've seen. It's an accurate bow that gets the job done. He's got it set up at 65 lbs with Gold Tip arrows, and I don't think you need anything more for a wisconsin whitetail.

RE: new to bow hunting

You have made a fine choice to get started with. I would just suggest you shoot it as much as possible to get as comfortable and accurate as possible with it. Also try to find someone who already has quite a bit of experience to shoot with and you may save yourself some time in setup, form, judging distances, etc. Good luck and remember just learning to shoot the bow is only part of the equation. If you've already got lots of experience hunting with another weapon, then great. If not, there's plenty more to get up to speed on!

RE: new to bow hunting

Welcome to bow hunting friend!! Sorry! Welcome to Mossy Oak!!

I've shot a Nova, but I've never owned one. Ny911 is very correct in his statement of that bow getting a lot of folks into bow hunting. You have a very good shooter to learn on without dropping a wad of cash. Welcome to the addiction...it is only getting worse as time goes on!!!

RE: new to bow hunting

Better any bow than no bow at all
Welcome to the addiction brother!

RE: new to bow hunting

Welcome to the forum!
