The only time I had problems was with a brand new rifle. I think it is very important to break in a rifle with good quality ammo. I mainly keep Wolf ammo for a SHTF scenario.

RE: Pictures of my new AR15

them steel cased bullets aren't worth a hoot on firearms.. a friend of mine has a Norenco (chinese) SKS and was shooting brass shells until his wallet went flat, so he decided to order some Wolf brand steel cased bullets.. you oughta see how much problems he's having now..

I've got a bushmaster ar15 and i'll never shoot a steel cased round out of it after seeing the damage... the problem is that steel casings dont bend, removing little pieces of the guns interior. the brass ones will eject with a dent on one side, not harming the gun

next time you fire a steel casing, check the casing for scratch marks

RE: Pictures of my new AR15

FL_Cracker (4/18/2008)
TrailCamMan (4/16/2008)
Good question Crump. The longest I have ever shot is 300 yards and that was in the Army using iron sights. The local range is set up to 600 hundred yards. I would love to be able to reach out to 600. I guess I will just have to wait and see how it performs on the range.

With the longer barrel, you should get an effective range out to 500 meters I would guess. With the shorter barreled M4's, effective range is only around 200 but naturally your mileage may vary....that's just based on a haji my bro had the pleasure of servicing with his M4 in AssCrackaStan that didn't go down even though he had 10 rounds in him.

My son and nephew both complained about the same thing while
in Iraq. I wish they would go back to the .308 or .30 cal.
they used from WW 1 through Korea. When someone was shot
with those rounds, they pretty much hit the ground.

(By effective range I mean minute of kill, not minute of angle...ballistic chart bull ****** )
RE: Pictures of my new AR15

There is nothing sweeter than a good two stage trigger on a black rifle. Don't want one on a bolt gun tho. Best rapid fire score I ever fired was with a borrowed two stage in my rifle.

Sarge

RE: Pictures of my new AR15

Awesome looking gun John!

RE: Pictures of my new AR15

ah forget about all that balistic charts and paper reading, just shoot it, if you miss you should have 29 more rounds at least to finish the job!

RE: Pictures of my new AR15

TrailCamMan (4/16/2008)
Good question Crump. I know what you are talking about. At first I was think 2 stage would be at 1 stage semi auto and the 2nd stage would be full auto. LOL!!!

Yeah I understand now. I'm not into target shooting...I'm in to destroying what I'm shooting at...2 stage wouldn't help me much!!! LOL!!!!

RE: Pictures of my new AR15

The two stage triggers are for precision shooting. With a two stage, there is no "creep" or "surprise break" like a single stage. With a two stage you know exactly when the round is going to go off. With the first stage the slack is taken out and the trigger will stop. Add a little more pressure and the trigger will break and send the round down range. It's kind of hard to explain without actually showing it to you. My suggestion is for you to build another AR and add one. That way you will know.

RE: Pictures of my new AR15

Ok...what is the deal with two stage triggers....what are they for?

RE: Pictures of my new AR15

Great lookin shooter!
