I have 3 beagles, and we are out every chance we can get, after deer season. I have 2 rabbit hunting videos that I had ordered probably 5 years ago, they are still fun to watch.

RE: need rabbit hunting on tv!!!

3 today in the am,dogs feet got cut up on ice so I worked a young dog in the pm & he had a few runs. Wed I will be out with my dogs & the fun begins. I have 1 pup I have been training & 2 seasonesd bunny burners. I love deer hunting but rabbits is even more fun IMO. I will run every chance I get for the next 2 months. I can understand why the networks dont show it much. They cant make any money on it. All my deer huntin buddies say they want to come out for bunnies but if I have 2 guys show up all season thats alot. Its ok with me I will be out regardless. Its a blast & very inexpensive but rewarding hobby. Mike

I still want to get out there!!!!

RE: need rabbit hunting on tv!!!

Deer season is totally over tomorrow at sunset here in Ny. Of course, these are the big money makers with the big sponsors, so makes it hard for the shows to not show that as much as possible.

I know for myself though, I always try to get a few rabbit hunts in during the year, especially later in the year, in the snow. It's always a great day out in the woods between fall season and turkeys in the spring.

RE: need rabbit hunting on tv!!!

I can remember a couple squirrel hunts that I saw on big-name hunting shows, but they are very rare. I saw Roger Raglin shoot rabbits with a bow on one of his shows. I think he shot jackrabbits or snowshoes one time too? And on one other show I watched a group of fellas shooting at cottontails over beagles with muzzleloading shotguns.

Those were very fun shows to watch, just because it was something different. Maybe we all need to start hounding the big shows to throw something like that in from time to time. Just think..."Lee and Tiffany Lakosky are Gettin' Close to big Iowa cottontails." Probably wont see it, but it would be fun to watch.

rw

RE: need rabbit hunting on tv!!!

I tell ya I've been sittin on my couch wondering why it is that they never put that on t.v. we watch fishing golf deer hunting but lets see some action rabbits are fast explossive and damn fun to shoot.here in michigan we have cotton tails and snow shoes. but id even be happy with some bird hunts seeing I do guide at a preserve and all.

RE: need rabbit hunting on tv!!!

I agree, I think they should do more on tree rats, rabbits, things of that nature.

RE: need rabbit hunting on tv!!!

well ill tell you what. my cousin and i rabbit hunt with dogs, so send me your address and ill send you a ameture video of us hunting the beagles. it is pretty awesome to watch the dogs work the tracks! i also coon hunt with walker dogs i am going to start videoing that too, i would like to see more small game hunting also, you never know maybe we will!!!

RE: need rabbit hunting on tv!!!

I also would love to see rabbit and also squirrel hunting on TV. All the shows are getting to look the same, either sitting in a tree stand and shooting a whitetail or in a ground blind on a waterhole for antelope or sitting under a pint for elk. I much prefer small game hunting to big game hunting, though I do both. Small game hunting lets me go more often and take more animals for the freezer and enjoy the outdoors much more than just a one shot big game hunt.

RE: need rabbit hunting on tv!!!

More rabbit hunting would be excellent!

You hardly hear about it any more. I grew up raising beagles and running hillbillys and swampers around West Tn. When my grandfather passed away I just ain't been back much since.

It'd be nice and a good show for kids like you said if a Primos or Mossy Oak HTC, or big outdoor show did a rabbit hunt.

When we go to Wyoming pronghorn hunting in October we usually kick up jack rabbits too.

RE: need rabbit hunting on tv!!!

years ago they had it on ESPN before all these new stations came about. There was a series like the bird dog contests. they would put about ten beagles after a rabbit when thay came around the dog leading the pack would be awarded the point. then they would shoot it and start over

RE: need rabbit hunting on tv!!!

i would really like to see some rabbit hunting on Tv as well.
