I've been driving out for quite a few years also and this year it seems like nobody wants to. Not sure what I'm going to do this fall.

RE: Colorado mule deer

Thanks guys. That is the 6th muley I have taken out there. Not to bad for a do it yourself public land hunt. I would like to make it back out but with the economy the way it is and fuel prices through the roof last year I was unable to make it. When you are talking 1400+ miles one way from Ohio pulling a 5th wheel trailer and tags upwards of $300 it can add up. It is kind of ironic that the biggest one I shot was the closest. The hunting was hard out there in 02-03 and I shot a 3 point at 426 yds according to the range finder just to fill a tag. That was noon the 2nd day of the season and didn't see another buck for 3 more days before my buddy could fill his tag.

RE: Colorado mule deer

haha not a bad way to wake up from dozing off for a sec <img align="absmiddle" src="http://www.mossyoak.com/forum/Skins/MOP/Images/EmotIcons/Tongue.gif" border="0" title="Tongue"> nice buck!

RE: Colorado mule deer

all i can say is nice <img align="absmiddle" src="http://www.mossyoak.com/forum/Skins/MOP/Images/EmotIcons/BigGrin.gif" border="0" title="BigGrin"><img align="absmiddle" src="http://www.mossyoak.com/forum/Skins/MOP/Images/EmotIcons/w00t.gif" border="0" title="w00t"><img align="absmiddle" src="http://www.mossyoak.com/forum/Skins/MOP/Images/EmotIcons/Hehe.gif" border="0" title="Hehe">

RE: Colorado mule deer

Awsome Mule Deer. This is the 4th mule deer I have shot and by far the biggest. Didn't get to go this year, didn't draw a tag. Shot it in unit 22 outside of Rifle, Colorado @ 20 yards with 7 mm Rem mag. The thing about walked over top of me. I was kinda tired and had found a good ceder tree to lean up against overlooking a bowl and was nodding off to tell the truth. I just happen to pop my eyes open and there he stood just lookin at me like "what are you doin?" It kinda took me a second to realize that it was a deer standing that close and a shooter buck at that! Then the next thing that popped in my head was - "Why are you lookin at it dummy, SHOOT it!" I eased my gun up and amazingly the whole time he stood there broadside staring at me until I pulled the trigger. I passed on a smaller 4 point (8 point) that morning and am glad I did. Sorry about the dark picture but unfortunatly this is the only pic I got before it was mounted. I shot it in the evening and it was 4.5 miles back to camp and was dark by the time I got there. I took this quick picture at camp with my phone. I took some more pictures the next morning with a disposable camera but that disapeared somewhere between Colorado and Ohio.
