She had a 6 inch beard. Black color may be opposite mutation of albinoism, think it's called melanonism or something like that.

Sarge

RE: what kind of turkey is this

Ground check heem...

I wouldn't rule out that it's a turkey. They rarely come in orange/red/black/ or white. You can read about it on the NWTF websites.

RE: what kind of turkey is this

Females will strut sometimes, I've heard stories of hens having beards and strutting. I believe it was one of the latest Primos Truth videos that they filmed a hen strutting and TRYING to gobble. Wierd things happen, I mean there have been antlered bucks killed only to find out they had to use a doe tag on them because it were a doe. Same deal with the color on the turkey, it is very possible that was a farm raised bird the escaped. Who knows. Shoot it, mount it and you'll have an instant conversation piece!

RE: what kind of turkey is this

turkey buzzard

nah gobblers do sound like hens sometimes, when they cluck,, i've heard turkeys make all sorts of crazy sounds.. but i have yet to hear a gobbler yelp .. did you see a beard? i've seen similar posts like this in other forums... i dont know , may have been a bearded hen fanned out yelping struttin

what kind of turkey is this

hi everyone im from Ontario Canada and we have eastern turkeys here.
