no I didn't see a beard but the fan was about the size of a small jake .

I have seen hens strut, as a matter of fact I shot a bearded hen last year right after she came out of full strut, acting up for a B-mobile. She had a 6 inch beard. Black color may be opposite mutation of albinoism, think it's called melanonism or something like that.

I wouldn't rule out that it's a turkey. I've seen some strange looking turkeys in my day.

Could also be a color phase bird. They rarely come in orange/red/black/ or white. You can read about it on the NWTF websites.

Females will strut sometimes, I've heard stories of hens having beards and strutting. I believe it was one of the latest Primos Truth videos that they filmed a hen strutting and TRYING to gobble. Wierd things happen, I mean there have been antlered bucks killed only to find out they had to use a doe tag on them because it were a doe. Same deal with the color on the turkey, it is very possible that was a farm raised bird the escaped. Who knows. Shoot it, mount it and you'll have an instant conversation piece!

turkey buzzard

nah gobblers do sound like hens sometimes, when they cluck,, i've heard turkeys make all sorts of crazy sounds.. but i have yet to hear a gobbler yelp .. did you see a beard? i've seen similar posts like this in other forums... i dont know , may have been a bearded hen fanned out yelping struttin

hi everyone im from Ontario Canada and we have eastern turkeys here. Today I seen an all black turkey with a white tip tail I dont know what kind of turkey this is, so if you know please help me. Also the turkey sounded like a hen then when it came in it started to strut. Do females strut and fan there tails to? this turkey had no beard that I could see
