I ve been out a few times here in NC and seen many does and small bucks but now shots. I was in MI all last week for the last couple days of season wiht no luck up there either.. I Still have some time left in OH if i make it back.. We will see.. All in all its been a pretty decent year though.. I was setting down the other night thinking and can olny remember 11 outings where i never saw a deer.. I hunted pretty hard in three states and seen many nice deer and passed a lot as well. Took a good buck and three does so i would say this year was prety good..

Are you fellas still hunting..?

RE: TEAM 5- TEAM EXIT WOUNDS

Pics in the contest entry thread but I didn't put my call name on the sheet. So it prob won't count

RE: TEAM 5- TEAM EXIT WOUNDS

Dad got over about 5AM this morning. He got us breakfast from Micky D's. I was kind of excited to get this morning due to the snow on the ground. Gathered all my gear and started my way to my stand. On the way in I noticed a good amount of tracks running in all directions in the snow. This made me even more excited to get to my stand. Once there I did my usual routine and prepared myself for a long sit.

Daylight came late. About 20 minutes after seven this morning I caught movement to my west. At first I thought I seen a very high rack. But since it was the last day of the rifle season, any legal buck will do for now! LOL! This deer was going to make me work for him. He would only give me bits and pieces of view. Then I thought he walked away! Around 7:35AM I caught him moving up the mountain. With all the fallen trees I didn't have many shot opportunities! I found a small open area, I am guessing about 15 inches wide ahead of him. Looked above the scope to see what might be in front of the gun. Two trees at varying distances which looked like they were inches apart! Got back in the scope seen the antlers, then his head, as soon as the shoulder appeared I fired one shot. Never seen the buck run up or down the mountain. I walked over and guessed it to be about 75-85 yards. Since it was the last day of rifle season, any legal buck was fair game! I still have two doe tags yet, but I will not be able to upgrade from this! Hope this helps!

RE: TEAM 5- TEAM EXIT WOUNDS

I scored the day after thanksgiving as well...

Im out of freezer space at the moment but i still have half of my buddies freezer to go..

That puts me a 4 so far..Ive passed 3 other bucks and 12 does since then...

Im about to take some more does here soon...

RE: TEAM 5- TEAM EXIT WOUNDS

Congrats bud.. I so wanted another doe but i just couldnt get the chance with the dead still wind and all the eye balls... If i would have had the 30-30 i would have filled all my tags..haha..

I think we might have some doe days out on my buddies land at the end of season if hes up for it.. They are EVERYWHERE... i felt like i was setting inside a deer pen all three times ive been out there this year..

Anyway bear season opens in a couple weeks. Hopefully i will connect on one of them.. Ive never got a shot off on one so that will be a nice trophy for the year..

Im hopeing my OH deer will be mounted and back sometime this spring.. I know my buddy has a few other mounts to do ahead of mine though..

Either way. doe hunting is my favorite part of season.. They are more of them around so its always fun... Lots of meat and adrenaline.. haha Tonight i stalked up on 4 and almost had a shot but the last doe pushed the other 3 through my opening before i could get a shot off... my heart hurt it was going so crazy... only ONE more step i could have sent a Rage tipped Gold Tip, at 27yds, through the boiler.. FUN FUN..

Anyway.. I wish you all the best of luck for the rest of the season and keep us posted... U KNOW i will..

RE: TEAM 5- TEAM EXIT WOUNDS

Well Guys i scored again.. Check out the whitetail section...

RE: TEAM 5- TEAM EXIT WOUNDS

Zeke (11/20/2007)
Sorry team hit a doe Sun night but can't find her.I think I caught a leg.Haven't seen buzzards so hopefully she's ok but I'm steamed second one missed this year, not good so far.Well I'm off to duck hunt in the morning I'll get back on deer Thanksgiving afternoon.

No worries bud.. Legal deer but nothing close. About 6:25 this evening, a small eight pointer comes down the trail to about 10 yards. Oh and by the way I am on the ground too! Sunset was 6:12PM, now in PA we can hunt 30 minutes after sunset. The problem its really getting dark, but I can make out the rack. He stops, I am on full draw I pick a spot while using the 15 yard pin, he is only 10 yards away from me. The wind is in my face, I am thinking this is perfect! I release, the deer jumps, runs about 20 yards and stops! He puts his nose to the ground and continues on his way! I hear the arrow bouncing off the rocks in the distance! I start thinking I missed! For the next 30-40 minutes I am looking for blood, nothing!

Now I am playing the whole scene back in my mind and thinking I missed him! He never knew I was there, he was content following the doe scent which the other two bucks were chasing! I am about 99.9% sure I missed him clean. But that darn .1% is killing me! SO tomorrow morning Ill be back out looking for blood and my arrow! It got soooooooo dark, and I was by myself! I had two flashlights but I thought it would be best to wait till morning! I hope I find that arrow!!!

RE: TEAM 5- TEAM EXIT WOUNDS

Well i got back from OH on sunday. We took a bunch of our gear up and did ALL the chores that needed to be done.. We bushhogged, layed carpet, moved furniture. Turned the power and well on.. Cleaned the trailer, you name it.. Then we hung a couple more sets and moved one.. All in all i was a blast...We had some EHD come through though and did end up finding a few dead deer... So that sucks...

Friday night it was WINDY.. so i stopped early to relax a little.. WELL i was anxious so i took a shower, got dressed with a plan to go over the nearest hill to my corner set. Its on the side of a bedding area and ridge full of acorns.. Its all so a heck of a pinch point.. I was hopin that the wind would die a bit just before dark and a doe would come out to the acorns..

Sure enough, i was right...
RAGE.

And come to find out we had a double that night..

Like i said it was a great week end and i cant hardly wait for these next to weeks to go by so i can get back to the farm... The mathews, Rage 2blades and the FOB's are working great BUT its time for the Monster Stealth to draw some blood... Lets see that a 2blade saber tooth can do shall we..

RE: TEAM 5- TEAM EXIT WOUNDS

Zeke (10/15/2007)
Hunted last night Nice buck came out at 5:38 but I couldn't tell what he had on his head but his body looked to be mature but no shot.I'm going to try him again this week.Had a doe come in at 30 yards 5 min. after the buck but the wind switch and she got a dose, she didn't blow but she left in a hurry.

Hang in there bud....Thats hunting...

Good luck with that buck as well...

I leave for Ohio tomarrow afternoon now...

RE: TEAM 5- TEAM EXIT WOUNDS

Hunted last night Nice buck came out at 5:38 but I couldn't tell what he had on his head but his body looked to be mature but no shot.I'm going to try him again this week.Had a doe come in at 30 yards 5 min. after the buck but the wind switch and she got a dose, she didn't blow but she left in a hurry.

RE: TEAM 5- TEAM EXIT WOUNDS

First trip is over, No deer down.. Her and her yearling walked towards me slowly and never gave me a shot. She got under my tree, looked up and jumped out to about 25 yards and started feeding again. Not once did she ever look back my way? Weird! She stood broadside, I drew back and for the second time in three years a little limb veered the arrow off course! Grrrrrrrrrr! I got down found my arrow, nothing but dirt on it! Clean miss! But Ill tell you, IT WAS HOT OUT!!! Never again! I got to wait till cooler weather comes before I climb another tree! But it was still a good evening hunt! I wont be going out tomorrow morning, too hot! Hopefully next week it cools down some!

RE: TEAM 5- TEAM EXIT WOUNDS

Well fellas, im off to MI for 5 days. ill be back next weekend.. I was shocked! First bear ever in the wild while hunting! I was out yesterday, seen three does while driving in, nothing on stand. But its early! Got my two doe tags last week. Ill get something!

RE: TEAM 5- TEAM EXIT WOUNDS

Well team i WOULD have scored if i would have had a tag...

Heres the scoop..

Me and my hunting bud went down to his wife's mothers place in Beaufort Co(sp?), NC. We cooked on the grill bs'd for most of the day with his brother in law and shot bows.. His brother in law is also a taxidermist so we checked out all his new stuff and Again BS'd.. Then had some steaks and stuff on the grill... its got to about 1500 and we loaded up and headed down the road to the property.. This is almost 1000 acres no one has set foot on since last year. So we went by what his brother and law said was the norm and a quick glance at an aerial photo..

only bad part was the fields were all cotton this year so nothing was drawing deer.. So i picked an inside corner near an old creek bed and an oak ridge to the side.(acorns were just a droppin to). My buddy picked a point near a Huge run we found hoping to score on a doe..

The weather was decent with highs around 80 or so.. Winds were kind of favorable.... We had climbers and were set up and in by 1615.. I didnt have many shooting lanes(happens a lot this time of year) in the thick bottom but had high hopes. Well after not even seeing a squirrel i tried to keep my hopes up .. TONS of black birds but no other wild life...

1845 i heard something coming up the old creek bed. DIRECTLY behind me.. While i commited to that side of the tree i realized i may not have him in range.. I thought about my grunt call but knowing ive never had any luck early in the year i sat tight and listened to see his direction.. Next i was shocked..The sound came directly at me.. AND THEN..

out of the foliage walks a BEAR.. I was shocked..haha he/she came in and sat down for a sec, licked a paw the wandered around till dark.. I ranged him/her at 26yds broadside, Not a clue in the world i was there..

Definetly not what i was expecting by any means and also my first bear sighting from a tree.. Now being from central/northern MI ive seen plenty of bear but none from the tree in bow range.. Although no deer, this encounter made my whole weekend..haha Id say night but you cant hunt in NC on sunday's ..

Anyway .. i thought id share.. Wouldnt have counted but you know...

RE: TEAM 5- TEAM EXIT WOUNDS

Well team in Back and ready to go..
