so... thinkin about buying a bar...

in cortland ny... which is where I reside... its called Rascals... now that is lol we would change that name... it has an apartment upstairs... dont know how big... and the bar is in great shape... good sized place... its going for 209,900 $$$ which is a lil steep Im gonna see if I can talk them down a little or a lotle lol... me and a few buddies wanna get into it together.... its right down town walking distance to all bars... I think its a good idea... the guy is selling it cuz he doesnt wanna deal with college kids anymore...

I have been up , down and all around. In stores and online. Been thinking hybrid, non-hybrid, funky (Scion) and otherwise but today I came home with a new toy

Rated for 36MPG highway but it is so new I only have 28 miles on it so it is way too soon to do the math on mpg (although it has a button you it and it will give you the results pluse other things).

I like the fold down read seats you can stick hunting stuff in trunk and it can pop out thru the car instead of cramming up the trunk.

I bought my first Honda over 3 decdaes ago when people asked " what's a Honda?". It suffered thru snow & rust but you could not kill the engine. The 2008 is pretty tricked out in comparison to my first one!

Good enough for around town stauff but should be fine for my Alabama Hunting trips too.

Just wondering how many former Boy Scouts we have out there?

I wasn't an Eagle Scout, but I did make it up to Life and Order of the Arrow then was forced to move to Florida from North Carolina, where all troops I checked out were too sissified and my Pop wouldn't let me join...

I definitely owe a lot to Scouts though and figured there's probably a lot of other hunters and fishermen that were in the same boat.

As a friend reminded me recently, as a young kid, my Mom and Dad wouldn't let my bro and I play with guns, knives, or fire...but The Boy Scouts????? They let us have all three....

I found this and thought I'd share:

[b]Of any one hundred boys who become Scouts, it must be confessed that thirty will drop out in their first year. Perhaps this may be regarded as a failure, but later in life, all of these will remember that they had been in Scouting and will speak well of the program.

Of the one hundred, only rarely will one ever appear before a juvenile court judge. Twelve of the one hundred will be from families that belong to no church. Through Scouting, these twelve and many of their families will be brought into contact with a church and will continue to be active all their lives. Six of the one hundred will become pastors.

Each of the one hundred will learn something from Scouting, and all will develop hobbies that will add interest throughout the rest of their lives. Approximately one-half will serve in the military, and in varying degrees, profit from their Scout training. At least one will use it to save another person's life, and many may credit it for saving their own.

I think it rings true, particularly with more than 80% of those responding that they were Scouts. I imagine that last few percent who are hung up on Thin Mints will remember

Whatever ya call it - it's mine

I have had my eyes on this for a few weeks at a farm next to my brothers house - and out of the blue - they asked it I wanted it....told me to get it out of there! OK!

It is in pretty good shape - solid at least. Needs work...but I can do that little by little...plans are to make it a Welfare Baby Buggy - a slightly cheaper version of the Bad Boy Buggy!

THE BIGGEST obstacle will be the batteries! LAst I knew - they said it ran, but they ran over the charger. It has 6 batteries and i know at least 1 needs replacing - plus I need a charger - which go about $250!

Like I said - it is nothing I am looking to go gang busters on - but a slow project - little here, there...

Batteries!!!!!! UGH!

There is a TON of things out there for these carts - mine is an EZ-Go. I plan to paint it, eventually wrap in in Mossy Oak Duck Blind Camo Clad, refinich the seats, add a bumper with winch, lift it, bigger tires, and put some racks on it...

New House Started!

Well, my new foundation is in the ground! Building a new house on my 125 acres, things are rolling now.
Guy is coming this week to spray closed-cell foam on the outside and I'll be installing drain tile and stone for drainage right off. Then backfill and pour the floor.

We're building it ourselves as I have 18 years in building homes, 600+ feet off the road and going with all solar/wind.
And the 3 acre 'pasture' we cleared is getting stumped next weekend!
Whoo-Hoo!

A tractor had turned over while the driver was bush hogging on the side of the road. The drivers right arm was amputated and his right femur was broke and the bone was penetrating through the skin. The driver was air lifted out and yes some how he got into the blades of the bush hog. I was in class last night so I didn't get to make the call, but I talked to the crew that did. This man is very lucky to be alive. Just a reminder to be safe while operating heavy equipment.

Had a sink hole fall in yesterday and of course a calf decided to step off in it. We had to lower a ladder down in the hole and tie a rope behind his front legs. We then hoisted it out of the hole with the front end loader of the tractor. The calf is doing fine now.

Taking Handicapped folks hunting

Dewey Richardson of Black Death deer Urine has created a new Hope Outdoors that will start chapters in LA, MS and Ark. it is a non-profit organization to help handicapped or physically challenged youths and adults

We met tonight for 3 hours and I have accepted an appointment to the Board Of Directors.

We have numerous hunts donated free at Black Hawk Plantation in Louisiana, one of the premier big buck high fence operations in the south.

The youths being taken on these hunts will be physically or medically challenged, or terminally ill.

I have spoke with a judge today, he runs a 10,000 acre, managed club, south of Baton Rouge. He is getting it set up to take 3-4 handicapped kids hunting for HOPE this year.

I can think of no greater personal or spiritual reward than helping some of these kids and adults on an adventure hunting, fishing, or shooting skeet, that otherwise would never have the opportunity, or may not live for many more years.

This organization will be launched nationally in 2009 with hopes of having one or more chapters in every state.

I have pledged myself to this endeavor and would like for anyone who can participate in anyway to help make these outing happen, to contact me. It may be nothing more than volunteering to spend a weekend on the hunt helping these persons get to and from a stand, cook, play music, help to find hosts to offer hunts, or donating lodging and hunts at your club.

If we can get members in our region to help film some of these hunts, it would be a blessing.

Those who are far away, can try to find someone willing to sponsor or host a hunt for a few kids and set it up, and hopefully get support in their area and start a chapter there later down the road.

Jimmy (DOODAA)and I have made a mutual decision to use some hunts already filmed, in the MOTV.com tv shows he is putting together for Team Hammerdog, and provide advertising in each show for this organization.

It is a Christian based foundation and offers non-denominational ministry of GOD and what he is capable of doing, by HIM helping to make these hunts possible and the christian love of all the volunteers who donate their time and effort.

It is a 2001 Z-71 black, 78,000 and in almost brand new condition. Not a scratch or dent anywhere.

I had a stand a friend wanted, so he traded me a like new set of Wet Okole neopreme custom seat covers for the stand.

perfect fit and looks great.... a little camo for the new ride.......to bad they were not Mossy Oak huh? real tree hardwoods.

Well my wife got me a Mossy Oak steering wheel cover for it......

Doing a redneck, pimp out of the truck over the next couple of months.........a camo clad stripe down the bottom, and a few other things.

so Ive been on a vacation splurge as of late... me and my girlfriend went to myrtle beach with my friend and her brother... right on the beach... I was there from last wed. to sunday night... great time went surfing fishing bar hoppin... good time... then we decided to get lost in tennessee dont ask me how... and it took us 18 hours to get home... so we get home monday at 7pm... well I decided I wanted to go down and see my grandparents and mom in millbrook ny yesterday... me and a buddy went he drove half and I drove the other half... its "4hours"/3 for us lol because I went 90 the whole way lol.... it was a great time and was glad to see my grandma and grandpa... went through the catskill mountains on the way back turned out to be a 5 hour drive through the mountains... but it was fun.... I guess all Im sayin is Im sick of bein in a car and sick of vacation lol... glad Im back at work oh and ny911bowhunter... Im gonna spend a weekend down there soon

A few of us around the area got togather for a little shooting last weekend. We normally have this shoot in the fall but someone wanted to film it so it was moved to spring, the first day of gobbler to. We have a long season so I went shooting instead of hunting, can't break the tradition. Some gobblers even came by to strut their stuff. Below is a picture of one of the shooters lining up. The target is to the left of the big tree in the far field, it's white. I'll give some more details later when a link is available. Some of the long timers here may remember me mentioning it A good time was had by all!

Has anyone seen this show or know what it's about?

I have watched ten minutes of the show and just can't believe it. I've seen a guy shoot a mountain goat and have no idea how to do anything with it. He missed first shot (no big deal) and then "gets it" with the second shot. Of course the actual impact is too "foggy" to see anything for the camera. He then finds it dead at the bottom of the valley and has no idea what to do with it. Thank goodness his "guide/survival coach" field dresses it for him. So far this is the only interesting part of the show.

A woman was fishing for salmon with the reel upside down and once she caught one she sat on the bank with a knife in her hand trying to figure out how to kill the fish. She then decided to go grab a log and smack the fish over the head. Guess the knife wouldn't have worked for some reason.

Then the show goes on to show "conflicts" between people similar to "survivor". I guess i really don't understand this show but from what i have seen, doesn't appear very good to me. Anyone have comments on it?

Even as a moderator here, I don't have the "powers" to make changes..... but I can certainly ask/request for things that our members think would make things better for our forums. EXCITEMENT IN J-TOWN

Yesterday we had a huge fire at a couple of the old tanneries in our town.

Leveled 3 buildings and damaged quite a few houses. We were there at the fires worst part and flames were shooting right out through the roof. Thankfully noone got hurt. The building where it started was being refurbished and was going to be a micro brewery.

-----Congress Moves To Seize Control Of All U.S. Waters

-----The Real Goal of HR 2421, the Clean Water Restoration Act Is to give Corps and EPA Control Of All Watersheds Which Means National Land Use Control. It will give the Corps and EPA control over your property.

-----HR 2421 is worse than a mere return to the jurisdiction the Corps of Engineers and EPA had before the U.S. Supreme Court limited their jurisdiction. It gives the jurisdiction to the federal government that the environmental bureaucrats only dreamed of before the Supreme Court's rulings.

-----Besides private property, HR 2421 threatens businesses, agriculture, small communities, grazing, forestry, mining and many other uses on private and Federal land. It will affect many kinds of manufacturing companies and businesses.

-----Congress is considering expanding the jurisdiction of the Clean Water Act of 1972 to include all waters of the United States and not limit it to "navigable waters" as is currently the law under two Supreme Court Decisions, the Rapanos and SWANCC Supreme Court Decisions of 2006 and 2001.

-----Congress is also considering expanding Clean Water Act jurisdiction to include all "activities affecting these waters." In other words, the bill is a double whammy: It expands the definition of waters and gives the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Corps of Engineers (Corps) and other Federal agencies control over activities that affect waters-any land use activities.

-----An example is that the Federal bureaucracies will gain control over all the watersheds in the United States. That includes dry land inside or adjacent to watersheds. That means everything. Because all land is in a watershed.

-----And in fact HR 2421 even goes far beyond that by adding the language, "the activities affecting these waters," which is essentially a limitless national land use control provision.

-----Chairman Oberstar and some Members of Congress are trying to overturn the U.S. Supreme Court decisions using HR 2421 to define those decisions away.

The only thing HR 2421 restores is the jurisdiction of the Corps and EPA over all the lands they had taken jurisdiction over before the two critical Rapanos and SWANCC Supreme Court Decisions of 2006 and 2001.

-----HR 2421 is the biggest threat to private property since CARA and actually affects far more land and people. It seeks to overturn the critical Rapanos and SWANCC Supreme Court Decisions of 2006 and 2001 that said the Corps of Engineers was going outside their jurisdiction.

Now Chairman James Oberstar (D-MN) and others are trying to overthrow the Supreme Court decisions.

-----This is called bait and switch. You need to call, fax and e-mail your own Congressman and the others on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee to let them know that you know about the trick and that you are going to hold them accountable for it.

Rep. Oberstar knows that a number of Democrats on his Committee are worried about HR 2421 and he is trying to give them a place for a soft landing by leaving the word "Navigable" in the bill so their constituents will think they are still protected.

But he is going to gut the meaning of the word "Navigable." He is doing this to make it possible for Democrats on his Committee to vote for HR 2421without getting hammered by you. Your Congressman must hear from you that you are not falling for this trick. He or she must learn from you that they will be held responsible if they vote for HR 2421.

-----Committee Chairman James Oberstar (D-MN) made it clear at the April 16th hearing that he plans to overturn the Rapanos and SWANCC Supreme Court Decisions of 2006 and 2001. That would give the Corps of Engineers and EPA jurisdiction over nearly all private and Federal land. The Supreme Court limited that jurisdiction in the two Supreme Court decisions.

-----Furthermore, Oberstar is trying to push the other Democrats on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee to support his position and vastly increase the jurisdiction of the EPA and Corps.

That means HR 2421 will vastly expand the jurisdiction of the Corps of Engineers and the EPA. Do you want the Corps and EPA in your backyard? That's what will happen if HR 2421 passes Congress.

HR 2421 is a massive threat to all private property in America. It also threatens the use of Federal land.

Under the name "clean water" HR 2421 would give the Corps of Engineers, EPA and the Federal Government massive additional regulatory powers that supercede local and state government.

People may be tempted to jump in favor of "clean water" not realizing they are trading away control over their land.

Below is the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. You must check to see if your Congressman is on this list. If he or she is, you need to be all over your Representative with white hot intensity. Call, Call and call again. Get your friends and neighbors to call. Also E-mail and fax. Your Congressman must feel the pressure and know in no uncertain terms that you oppose HR 2421.

We call HR 2421 the National Wetlands Clean Water Act - Corps of Engineers Land Grab Bill HR 2421.

(It's real name is the Clean Water Restoration Act but it has very little to do with clean water or restoration. It is mostly about land use control and expanding the power, reach and jurisdiction of the Corps of Engineers and EPA under the Clean Water Act of 1972. )

What the bill supporters are doing is using the term "Clean Water," which everybody wants, as a tool to pass legislation (HR 2421) that is really about land use control and has little or nothing to do with clean water. It is a huge rural land grab. Their target is land use control over all lands, both urban and rural.

-----What HR does is give the Corps of Engineers and EPA control over all private property in the US by changing the definition of "wetlands" under the Clean Water Act of 1972 expanding the regulatory reach of the Corps and EPA over private property.

The Goal Of HR 2421, the Clean Water Restoration Act Is Corps and EPA Control Of All Watersheds Which Means National Land Use Control. It will give the Corps and EPA control over my property.

-----HR 2421 is worse than a mere return to the jurisdiction the Corps of Engineers had before the U.S. Supreme Court limited their jurisdiction. It gives the jurisdiction to the federal government that the environmental bureaucrats only dreamed of before the Supreme Court's rulings.

-----Congress is considering expanding the jurisdiction of the Clean Water Act of 1972 to include all waters of the United States and not limit it to "navigable waters" as is currently the law under two Supreme Court Decisions, the Rapanos and SWANCC Supreme Court Decisions of 2006 and 2001.

-----Congress is also considering expanding Clean Water Act jurisdiction to include all "activities affecting these waters." In other words, the bill is a double whammy: It expands the definition of waters and gives the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Corps of Engineers (Corps) and other Federal agencies control over activities that affect waters-any land use activities.

An example is that the Federal bureaucracies gain control over all the watersheds in the United States. That includes dry land inside or adjacent to watersheds. That means everything. Because all land is in a watershed.

Chairman Oberstar and some Members of Congress are trying to overturn the U.S. Supreme Court decisions using HR 2421 to define those decisions away.

And in fact it even goes far beyond that by adding the language, "the activities affecting these waters," which is essentially a limitless national land use control provision.

It became clear what Rep. Oberstar is really up to at the House Transportation Committee Hearing on Oberstar's Clean Water Act Wetlands Land Grab Bill (HR 2421) on April 16th. Transportation Committee Chairman Oberstar is planning to try to trick us into thinking the bill is OK. He is planning to leave the word "navigable" in HR 2421 but trick us with words that essentially gut its meaning.

This called bait and switch. I know about the trick with the word "navigation" and am going to hold you accountable for it if Oberstar is successful and you vote for it.

You must know that I understand this tactic. We are not going to be suckered by a bait and switch tactic. I will hold you responsible if Oberstar is successful in passing HR 2421 taking the heart out of the Rapanos and SWANCC Supreme Court Decisions of 2006 and 2001.

We understand that Rep. Oberstar is trying to give some members of his Committee a place for a soft landing by leaving the word "Navigable" in the bill so people like us will think we are protected.

But he is going to gut the meaning of the word "Navigable." He is doing this to make it possible for Democrats and others on his Committee to vote for HR 2421without getting hammered by their constituents. Please understand that I am not falling for this trick. You can expect a huge reaction if you vote yes on HR 2421.

Committee Chairman James Oberstar (D-MN) made it clear at the April 16th hearing that he plans to overturn the Rapanos and SWANCC Supreme Court Decisions of 2006 and 2001. That would give the Corps of Engineers and EPA jurisdiction over nearly all private and Federal land. The Supreme Court limited that jurisdiction in the two Supreme Court decisions.

I want you to oppose the effort of Chairman Oberstar to overturn the Rapanos and SWANCC Supreme Court Decisions of 2006 and 2001. I do not want the Corps and EPA to get back the jurisdiction they had before the Supreme Court decisions. I don't want the Corps of Engineers or the EPA in my backyard. I am urging you to vote no on HR 2421, the Clean Water Restoration Act.

The bill would overturn two U.S. Supreme Court decisions that favored landowners and local government. The Rapanos and SWANCC Supreme Court Decisions of 2006 and 2001. HR 2421 would give federal agencies, the Corps of Engineers and EPA in particular, almost unlimited control over your land, your water and that of all your neighbors.

Reed Hopper, lead attorney in the latest Supreme Court victory for landowners said "...this bill pushes the limit of federal power to an extreme not matched by any other law, probably in the history of this country.

Jim Burling, senior attorney for the Pacific Legal Foundation, said "If our constitutional system of limited federal powers means anything, we have to win on this issue."

Oberstar's district, it is critical that you notify organizational leaders as well as average citizens to have them send letters and pass resolutions opposing HR 2421 to Reps. Oberstar and John Mica. Make it clear that HR 2421 must be defeated and must not be allowed to overturn the Rapanos and SWANCC Supreme Court Decisions of 2006 and 2001.

Also notify your state legislators and local elected officials. You should hold local public meetings in your local area and get as many people in your area as possible informed about HR 2421. This is especially true in Minnesota.

I flew into Kansas City KS on Sunday night for meetings through Wednesday for work.

I contacted TOM before I went and we swapped cell numbers.

He came over to the restruant/bar by the hotel and we hung out together for some hours!

We talked about hnting and life and if you ever get the chance to meet him in person....do it...... he is a REAL person, one you would be glad to be able to say he was a friend of yours!

TOM..real enjoyable time and look forward to doing it again next time I am up there!
