Hope all is well with everybody!

I got a couple questions for y'all.............. new members are also asked to respond with any ideas and concerns.

1) In what ways do you think we can improve these forums here, that some of us call home?
What would you "like" to see changed, or done differently?

2) How do you think we can make the site more fun?

3) Is there something you would like to see more of, or less of?

4) Any other ideas, concerns, or general feedback??

Even as a moderator here, I don't have the "powers" to make changes..... but I can certainly ask/request for things that our members think would make things better for our forums. Though a request may not mean that certain things can or will be changed. Our hands are tied to a certain extent with the way the programming for the message board currently stands. But we would still like to hear your thoughts! Thats really funny. If you look back through your emails you will see I have emailed you concerning your boots that leak horribly and the scent blocker pants I own that have fallen apart resulting in the loss of my wallet and all my personal items in it. I think that If I do not here from you guys within the next month I am going to contact the BBB concerning this because there are literally hundreds of people with the same complaint that I have. I hope you guys have a wonderful CHRISTMAS and I look forward to hearing from you real soon.

From: robinson outdoors
To: me
Subject: FW: TIS' THE SEASON OF GIVING! PROMOTIONS EXTENDED THROUGH THE NEW YEAR!!
Date: Mon, 21 Dec 2009

Unfortunately this is the first email that we have received from you.(not true) I can see what I can do but can you let me know which boot they are and the size, your address, phone number, when you purchased them, where you purchased them from? Once I get the above information I will be able to have a better idea where to go from there.
I will wait to hear back from you.
Thanks
Robinson Outdoor Products
Inside Sales Rep

From: me
To: robinson outdoors
Subject: RE: TIS' THE SEASON OF GIVING! PROMOTIONS EXTENDED THROUGH THE NEW YEAR!!
Date: Tue, 22 Dec 2009
thanks for returning my email. You mentioned about the boots, They are not the real issue for me, They are a few years old and they were a gift so I am not looking for you guys to (give me new ones) seeing as how I have nothing in them, but my scent blocker jacket and pants are the Issue I have. This is the 3rd full season that I have used this clothing and they have not been over washed and only worn during the month of November. My issue is the stitching on both the pants and the jacket have come loose causing me to loose my wallet in the rear pocket of my pants. the stitching has come loose on both the front cargo pockets and the rear pockets. It would just seem that if you pay this much for clothing that you would get a better quality product than this. And not to mention the aggrivation that this has caused me, I lost my wallet 2 days before the ohio gun season came in and everything I owned was in this wallet including my out of state Ohio hunting liscense and my West Virginia hunting liscense and my drivers liscense, debit cards, credit cards, and my social security card. needless to say I was unable to hunt during the Ohio gun season because I could not get a replacement liscense due to me not having my drivers liscense. Again I am not asking for handouts by no means, but I would hope that you would warrenty your product against failure such as this. you guys really need to look into the stitching issue you are haveing with your clothing. The jacket and pants I have are the fleece dream season, as far as scent control I could not be happier with your product but the overall quality is terrible, they tear very easily and just not built well. I would be more than glad to send you my clothes to let you guys look at them (as long as you paid the shipping). The previous email that were sent to you guys were not to you personally but it was the email address that was found on your web site. attached is a picture of me wearing the clothing that I am having the problem with (minus the boots, they were not worn in this picture). Again thanks for returning my email, I look forward to hearing from you again and I hope you have a wonderful Christmas. thanks.

from. me
Sent: Tuesday, January 26, 2010
To: robinson outoors
Subject: RE: TIS' THE SEASON OF GIVING! First the stitching came loose on one of my front pockets, then my boots started leaking horribly and to top it all off, friday I lost my wallet (which had everything from driver liscense, debit card, credit cards, social security card, Ohio hunting liscense, West Virginia hunting liscense, etc.) because the stitching came loose on the bottom of the back pocket. Now I have contacted Robinson Outdoors several times and I have heard nothing from them. I contacted them over a month ago on my boots leaking and I just emailed them today to let them know how cheap their stitching is on their clothing. You would think that a product that cost so much would be built well. And If nothing else they would at least contact me telling me that they are sorry for the trouble their product is causing me and they would work on revamping their stitching issues. and for the record, my clothing has not be excessively washed so you cant blame that on the stitching coming loose. Now the Ohio gun season comes in tomorrow and I cannot hunt because I have no liscense, and I cannot get a replacement because I have no drivers liscense to show proof. Thanks Robinson Outdoors for flushing my 150 blucks down the drain for out of state liscense.

Team Hammerdog Outdoors on TV

We did a test launch for our TV show in Mississippi last year and it was well recieved!

We started airing our show last week on COX, Charter, and AT&T cable networks covering all of south and south east Louisiana.

We air six time a week on Pelican Broadcasting:

Tuesday channel 113 at 8:30 PM and 713HD at 8:00 PM

Saturday channel 113 at 8:00 pm and 713 HD 7:30 PM

Sunday Channel 113 at 10:30 am and 713 HD 2:00 pm

All times are CST.

If you go to this link and click on "The Pelican Broadcasting" icon at the times for channel 113, you can watch our shows streaming on your computer!

http://www.pelicansportstv.com/20278_1469.asp

We have been five years filming and getting to the point we can air shows.

Check it out and let me know what you think about everyday guys enjoying the outdoors!

Visit from the big brown truck

The big brown truck stopped by my house Monday evening and dropped off this.

After a couple of days of rain I finally had the opportunity to open it.

Unfolded and set up, here is the inside.

Here it is sitting in the same location in my front yard, looking at the outside.

And here it is in the middle of a cut corn field.

I'm looking forward to trying this out in the woods tomorrow morning. I made it home ok from Utah yesterday evening . Only took me 29 hours to make the 1300 mile trip . Between the near blizzard like conditions , and the road closures , I made it . I was at home in time to have dinner with the family , tuck my kids into bed , and deal with santa issues . Ill be home for a few days before I head back out to Utah for a few more weeks of work . Hope to get some hunting in while Im home . Also trying to plan a possible buffalo hunt in Utah , as well as a possible mountain lion hunt up in Idaho . Ive started making plans and am looking at maybe attending the Shot Show in Las Vegas for a couple days the end of January . Hope all is well with everybody . Hunt hard and stay safe , Bill

MEERY CHRISTMAS!!

Here's to wishin everyone a safe and happy holiday!

Infinity pattern

Just saw it on the bowtech website. This is the slope (degree of incline or decline) and aspect (the compass direction a slope is facing). The slope and aspect of land surface will affect soil temperatures, moisture holding ability, affect rate of erosion, and decide movement of minerals and other particles from one area to another.

Vegetation affects soils by supplying organic debris to the soil. Grassland soils can have around twice the amount of organic matter compared to forest soils. The organic matter in grassland soils tend to be more uniformly distributed compared to forest soils. Grassland soils also tend to be less acid than forest soils.

The texture of a soil will affect the soil’s cohesiveness, aeration, drainage, and nutrient-holding capability. Here is a little information on soils:

Sand: Cohesiveness(Very little), Aeration(Very good), Drainage(Very good), Nutrients(Poor)

Silt: Cohesiveness(sticky when wet), Aeration(Average), Drainage(Average), Nutrients(Poor)

Clay: Cohesiveness(Very plastic), Aeration(Poor), Drainage(Very poor), Nutrients(High)

Loam: Cohesiveness(Good), Aeration(Good), Drainage(Good), Nutrients(Good)

Too much rain can lead to the leaching of ions and colloids. These are particles that play a key role in plant nutrition and soil chemistry. Waterlogged soils can cause poor aeration and lower the fertility of soil by lowering the ability to fix nitrogen.

Micro flora (algae, fungi, molds, and bacteria) capture atmospheric nitrogen that is vital for plant growth. Looking for types of habitats that include these micro floras; may mean deer are getting better nutrients in their diet and therefore may reach their genetic potential in antler growth.

Mycorrhizae are another key component of healthy soils. Mycorrhizae are important for disease suppression, drought protection, improved soil structure, increase leaf chlorophyll levels, and tolerance of nutrient imbalances. Undisturbed areas have plenty of mycorrhizae compared to disturbed sites. Disturbance from heavily compacted sites (such as some logging sites), areas that are treated with chemicals/pesticides, invasion by weeds, erosion, removal of topsoil, and land clearing are places where mycorrhizae are depleted; which causes plants to suffer.

Low intense fires can promote herbaceous flora, increase plant nutrients, and help healthy soil microbial systems. A severe/hot fire will do the opposite for a site.

Higher pH numbers around 8-14 indicate high levels of basic ions and soil alkalinity; which means low acidity. Colloids in this range will hold most of their mineral nutrients. The chemical environment in an area will determine if soil nutrients will be absorbed by plants. Most farm crops grow better around pH levels 6.5-6.8.

Soil erosion and nutrient depletion can be linked to intensive crop production (including tree farms), accelerated erosion, application of pesticides, and the uses of heavy machinery. Before humans took over the land; plants/trees would absorb nutrients from the soil and then would either drop their leaves or die, returning the nutrients back to the earth.

So know you know a few new things on what to look for when scouting for new areas to hunt deer. Here again is a short list of what to look for:

1. Clay or Loam soils
2. Neutral or alkaline pH soils
3. Soils with high levels of ions and colloids
4. Soils with high levels of micro flora and mycorrhizae
5. Areas with past low intense fires

Here are a few sites to help out in your search for the perfect new deer hunting location:

1.
