I have been up , down and all around. In stores and online. Been thinking hybrid, non-hybrid, funky (Scion) and otherwise but today I came home with a new toy
2008 Honda Civic EX
XM Radio
Lojack
Sunroof
Automatic
Silver
Rated for 36MPG highway but it is so new I only have 28 miles on it so it is way too soon to do the math on mpg (although it has a button you it and it will give you the results pluse other things).
I like the fold down read seats you can stick hunting stuff in trunk and it can pop out thru the car instead of cramming up the trunk.
I bought my first Honda over 3 decdaes ago when people asked " what's a Honda?". It suffered thru snow & rust but you could not kill the engine. The 2008 is pretty tricked out in comparison to my first one!
Good enough for around town stauff but should be fine for my Alabama Hunting trips too.

I'm pretty sure 30 years ago a lot of options weren't thought of back then so I'd hope that the new one is "tricked out" a little more. Congrats on the rice burner...you should get good service out of it.

Nice gas saver right there! Make sure you stock up on air freshners so the dead deer you stick in the back doesn't take away from the "new car smell"

If I was to buy a kiddie car to carry me to and fro with regard to the work transport, it would be a Civic. Since I drive 80 miles a day to and fro with gas nearing $4.00/gallon and the Avalanche sporting a 15 mpg average, it'd be a wise move. If I was to do such a thing, I would keep said Avalanche in an effort to retain some of my manhood by using it for hunting and fishing type activities, and hopfully keep my "man card" valid.
Also, if I were to have done such a thing, I would estimate that my mpgs on the first three tanks of gas were like this (you know...theoretically):
32 mpg
32 mpg
33.5 mpg
I would note that even though I had such an econamical vehicle, that I might have a tendancy to exceed the posted speed limit by a mile or two per hour and this lends itself to less than optimal mpgs.
But...you know...hypothetically speaking of course.

Nice. My mom just bought an Accord and gave me her 1997 Toyota Corolla to get around town to and fro work. Much easier on the wallet driving 20-40 miles a day.
My Silverado gets to rest up for hunting and fishing trips, the beach, and dates, etc....

Congrats on the new fuel saver Flinty. Driving my truck an hour just to get to work is really taking a toll on my wallet.

Wise move to the gas saver bud. So it's a Honda,
can't get much better for gas milage and I guess I'll
have to be the first to say it.............

Hey Flintlock...you know, like I said before, if I had bought me a Civic, I'd have gotten the mpgs per the previous listed first three tank fulls. And, if I went for the 4th fill up and calculated the mpg, I am guessing it would have come in around 35.5 mpg. I would reckon that the rig needs a bit of break-in to get the estimated 36 mpg highway...so don't fret on the first few tanks of gas.
Hypothetically speaking of course...
