| Is it easy to archery hunt from a ground blind. I am afraid of heights and had a bad experience with a tree stand.

Welcome to MO. In my experience hunting from a ground blind can be little rough around the edges but if you play the wind right and do some good scouting you can have better luck than from a treestand. Its way more exciting from the ground thats for sure. Scent elimination is the key when on the ground.

| There are alot of advantages to blind hunting. For a few examples: You can move around a little more, you are out of the weather, you can stand, sit, lay down and rest. Did you ever get stuck in the tree when to many deer was watching you and you couldn't draw your bow? That will not happen in a blind. There is many other advantages, you have to try to find out. Just make sure you get the right blind for what kind of hunting you are going to do, If bow hunting you have to make sure you have enough room to draw back comfortably and don't forget to practice shooting sitting down.

There have been MANY successful hunts out of a ground blind with archery equipment..... and I'm sure you can do the same!

| I personally prefer a stand (assuming there is a tree around when I need one), however, ground blinds can be very effective. My wife is not a fan of any stands either and she loves hunting from the blind. As has already been mentioned, you can get away with some movement, but remember you are now at eye level. You should not have every window in the blind open as you could be silhouetted when they look at the blind, making it easier to pick up any of your movements. As far as tree stands go, you may find yourself quite comfortable in the right ladder stand. My wife won't attempt one of my hang ons, but give her a ladder stand with are rest and a rail in front and she is comfy as can be. Good luck.

I'm in the same boat as you, but for a diffferent reason, I'll be hunting from a ground blind this year during archery season. It will be my first year of hunting with a bow. I had a stroke in 7/2004. My right side is still affected from the stroke. Ever since then, my stepson (and hunting buddy) has been bugging me to get a crossbow and hunt during archery season. Last Xmas, my wife(and stepson) bought me a crossbow. So now I'll be hunting from my permanent ground blind that I also use for gun season. I only missed the 2004 gun season due to my stoke. I've been able to harvest 5 deer since then from my blind, and last year, I didn't need help to gut the 2 deer I got. The deer have continued to pass close by blind, 30-40 yards.
I've attached a photo of my blind and of 2006 opening day harvest. My deer is 2nd from right.
