Bubby Brister

Former NFL quarterback, “Bubby” Brister, has joined the Mossy Oak team.  A 15-year veteran of professional football, Bubby completed his college career at Northeast Louisiana University where he was ranked 7th in the nation.  He led the Southland Conference in passing and total offense and earned the honor of All-SC Conference 1st team quarterback as well as 1985 Most Valuable Offensive Player.  Bubby’s college success led him into the NFL draft, where he was selected in the 3rd round by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He spent seven successful years with Pittsburgh before becoming a free agent.  In addition to Pittsburgh, his resume includes tours with the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Jets, and Denver Broncos (where he helped win two Super Bowl titles) and the Minnesota Vikings.  He finished his career with a passing record of 1,207 completions, 2,212 attempts, 14,445 passing yards, 81 touchdowns, and an overall passing average of 54.6%.  His rushing record consisted of 191 attempts, 546 yards and eight touchdowns.

After retiring from football in 2001, Bubby has been involved in doing local and national hunting and fishing shows.  “My Dad and I started hunting together when I was a kid,” he said.  “I enjoy hunting deer, turkeys, ducks, geese, and elk.”

Bubby lives in southern Louisiana with his wife and their two children.
